IL: Karen Calls Cops on Men for Shoveling Snow While Black

I'm reminded of the watering flowers while Black incident from last year. I inderstand they were trying to do a good thing. But I might have asked for permission first since it wasn't their property:

Another stupid incident for sure, but racism is a non issue in America. And the vast majority of what little exists is directed at white people, not coming from them.

That does not seem a credible argument, to me.

 

the ironic thing is, she said she did not get along with them, maybe they were trying to change that through kindness

regardless, I would rather people call the police then take matters into their own hands

that said, I do both my neighbor's side walks, why, I have a self-propelled show blower, they don't, it takes me nothing to walk behind it and do theirs too, seems the neighborly thing to do

that said, I can also see if I did not get along with someone, being worried they might slip and fall and try to sue me too, by making a police report, there is a record of it

 

As I understand it, people are obligated to clear snow from the sidewalk on 'their' property, however, the sidewalk is also a public right of way, and anyone may clear it. They prolly didn't need any permission at all.

I'ma take a wild stab and guess this was in or near a large, densely populated urban center? You just don't find 'Karens' out here in the stix.

See, I can say nonsensical things too and pretend they are true, but of course it never changes reality when you do. Pretending you have the inside scoop on how racism works in America is also pretty arrogant and naive.

Folks need to understand home ownership, easements and rules of law.

From what I understand, if someone slips and has an accident on a sidewalk that's on your property and no one bothered to shovel it you can be sued. I could be wrong on this though.

 

The woman in question likely has mental health issues. The commentary by "The Beast" was designed to keep people in a state of being angry and agitated and almost all media right or left in the US seek to do this. As do many of the threads here.

 

It would be interesting to know what the law actually says about situations like this:

As I watched the video, I noticed she was very difficult to understand, and seemed very confused. Probably dementia.
There is an element of racism in her behavior, but I think this is a poor example of racism run rampant in our society.
As a white older male, I've had racism thrown in my face by black people, but it is no way the norm or average.
We all need to work on eliminating racism from society, but also need to realize that it isn't going to change overnight, and, like it or not, people do have the right to their opinion, no matter how much we disagree with it.

Hmm, so I went to Google to snow removal laws in Illinois and apparently there's no law that says people are obligated to shovel their sidewalks.
