Here’s why automatic firearms aren’t practical in real life (msn.com)

Here is how underhanded media manipulates the ignorant!

    And the lie and con!
So, THE NEWER MODEL, seventy seven years OLD, had selector switch's :) And the newer civilian models have ONLY semi-auto option, thus making them ACCURATE..

Do anti-gun folks ever get tired of being treated like this?

Of course, you can't stroll into Wally World and buy a full auto AK47, either....

I'm confused. Could you please quote what lie exactly you are referring to? Or is the lie the quote that follows this?

Oh! Never mind. I just saw what the lie was. It's that they only come in automatic. As a quick search on google shows that they are ONLY sold as semi-automatic.

I know plenty of people with lots of firearms but no one with FULL auto rifles. Semi-auto firearms on the other hand are fantastic!!!

You can get a belt fed one from Walmart that fires two bullets at a time from one barrel though.

Full auto 22's are a lot of fun.

I can count the number of times I used the giggle switch on my A2 on one hand.

i could probably have a fill auto ak=47 delivered this afternoon, but i happen to agree with the article. school shooters and such should be required to use automatic weapons. many wasted rounds and plenty of time in between magazines to take the little incel down.

What, are you buddies with Viktor Bout?

I haven't been able to find a full auto AK47 anywhere.

Most often, people say 'AK47' when they should just say 'AK'. Much like with the 'AR15' vs just 'AR'. Its common enough to refer to the platform+style of operation as 'AK' or 'AR', but 'AK47' and 'AR15' both designate a specific weapon that hardly exists anymore. It's about like when people call their GMC truck a 'Chevy.' Its not a Chevy, but in most ways that matter, it might as well be. But it certainly is not a 'Silverado', just as virtually no AK for sale in the US is an 'AK47.'

Lets go with misleading as not to complicate things too much for the anti-gun folks :)

Well there is truth to fully automatics being inaccurate and impractical for self defense, however those were mostly made illegal for civilians use during the Reagan administration

I don't play any video games and don't watch a lot of TV but I have noticed that the most egregious attempts to mislead the American public are right in front of you on MSM.

For example, my wife was watching "Sunday Morning" 2 weeks ago when the show featured a lengthy and flattering segment on David Hogg praising his "good work".
There was absolutely no opposing point of view and the show's moderator did nothing but gush over the preening Hogg for an unendurable 30 minutes.

Just 2 weeks later, "Sunday Morning" featured a gaggle of gun ban hucksters who were given free rein to slander the NRA, lie about the 2nd Amendment and trot out their fraudulent "statistics" for another unendurable 15 - 30 minutes.

At least from my perspective, America's MSM is committed to giving free advertising to the numerous, wealthy gun ban groups and is far more committed to misleading the American people about the role of guns than the makers of video games.

    Thanks,

Meanwhile, here in the United States of America, a person with a weapon capable of firing many rounds through repeated squeezes of the trigger decides to kill others. When this happens, there is no possible recompense for the dead. Lives which occur but once are cut short. Families mourn. Post-death prayers and condolences are offered.

This scenario plays out a number of times every year. Our laws, their levels of enforcement and our social programs still leaves the US with many deaths by gunshot.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

As a former soldier with an expert badge in the use of firearms, including automatic ones, I can tell you that an auto firearm isn't even all that important to a single soldier. There are crew served weapons that are useful and used in some scenarios but an individual soldier is taught to use semi auto fire which is more effective and uses much less ammunition. A weapon is useless without ammunition.

yup, automatic fire is more for suppression from a base of fire element to keep the enemy’s head down while the maneuver element assaults across the objective, using semi automatic fire. Full auto is just a waste of ammo unless you are suppressing.

Ideally those responsible for disarming the public would have to pay damages to the victims of deadly gun control laws.

One lie: the original AK-47 was automatic only.

Another lie: automatic fire isn't accurate.

It is accurate if the first shot is well aimed. That is seldom the case -- alas.

Automatic fire can be used against massed targets, like they did in WW1.

It can also be used on moving targets, or area targets.

It's useful for entering a room.

There are several scenarios where automatic fire is necessary.
