Tasked with calculating how much San Francisco should pay its Black residents for decades of discrimination, a government-appointed panel didn’t develop a mathematic formula. Instead, over the last year and a half, its 15 members have been studying the city’s history.

To compensate for that and other instances of racial discrimination, the city’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee recently recommended that qualifying Black residents receive $5 million each in reparations.

5 million dollars. Seems like a high amount to give to people who haven't experienced anything they are being paid for. When do Japanese reparations go out to the ones we locked into camps during ww2?

San Francisco has been pushing out their black population for years. They may wait until they hit zero before issuing the checks.

This will just wind up being yet another empty broken promise to blacks. But, they'll string it out for as long as they can in order to get the black vote for as many elections as possible and then pull the rug out from under their feet and claim that they tried their best.

How long til the list of reasons for reparations include 'tantalizing blacks to vote for virtue signallers with false promises of reparations'?

I like how the criteria states that one must identify as black. I'm going to start checking the african box on all my paperwork from now on so that I can cash in when the Marxist cancer eventually consumes everything.

Reparations such a racist concept. Take from white people who have done nothing wrong and give it to black people who haven’t suffered due to any white person alive.

Pretty sure taxes come from more than just white people. Of course that helps your argument. Why does a 2nd generation Filipino have to contribute to reparations payments?

Black people that are alive today don't deserve a free 5 million. That's really all this boils down to. Everything else you are blabbering is mute.

It is a little more than 5 million dollars. It is also 97,000 dollars of welfare payments each year for each black resident for the next 250 years. It also includes free housing for black residents. It also includes personal debt elimination for each black resident. It also includes creating a black only school in San Francisco. It also includes free health care for Black residents. It also includes mandatory hiring of black teachers. It also includes paying black students if they get decent grades. It also includes preferential hiring requirements that prioritize black people. It also includes black only business investment. The cost is over $600K a year per non-black San Franciscan.... substantially higher if only whites are required to pay.

I endorse this idea. Please please do it San Francisco. You voted for it and you deserve it. Given that 80% of blacks support reparations, I am sure you will get hundreds of thousands of victims moving to San Francisco. 70% of Americans oppose reparations but don't let that get in your way.

By the way, the name of the bill should be "The Progressive Plan to get Every Single Productive White Person To Leave Our City In Less than 5 Years". Because of this, I would amend the legislation to make it illegal for white progressives to leave the city. They should be forced to stay and live with what they voted for.

    NOT HAPPENING!
The move by the board was largely procedural – an intermediate step in a much longer process. It does not bind the city to any of the ideas
