    snip

ConocoPhillips, which will develop the Willow Project, said it estimates the project will provide between $8 billion and $17 billion in new tax revenue to the federal government, the state of Alaska and North Slope Borough communities.

The project has the potential to create over 2,500 construction jobs and approximately 300 long-term jobs.

I'm no fan of Murkowski from AK but good for her for putting the WH feet to the fire and forcing this. If the folks handling Biden told him to reject the drilling, there would have been no denying how anti-people is this WH admin.

We need the resources, the folks need the work and politicians get more tax dollars.

I see no downside to this other than they might disturb the frozen turd flicking hare.

I have found something that I agree with from this train wreck of an administration.

I'm afraid Biden is just buying votes once again. I don't expect this deal to come to fruition just like Biden's promise to exempt student loans.

I hope not. This nation needs to re-focus on energy independence in order to stop this train wreck caused by the Democrat war on fossil fuels

Because energy in this country is not an international commodity, as the US is secretly a socialist country which controls energy prices like Venezuela with their gas.....

    Hi, sec.

A question which, to my knowledge, has not been addressed by ConocoPhillips is when the first oil can be expected to flow from the area.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Venezuela is an OPEC country. The US is not. The US doesn't directly determine price. It can help bring down prices by flooding the market with oil.

What happened to Biden's supposed war on oil? Could it be that it was always imaginary?

Give it more thought, even if it were 100 billion, do you really think this would make a difference..

You don't believe that our production here has an effect on that world market price? You don't think we can be more competitive HERE in our domestic market with DOMESTIC production?

Maybe a Dick Morris has somehow popped up in the White House and has his ear and told him that if he doesn't change his policy, read my sig, he won't get reelected.

So is this his "no new taxes" breaking his promise moment?

I don't know about controlling international prices but we have the resources to strongly influence them

What energy independence are you talking about? The only way to be energy independent is to produce energy just for you and rely 0% on others. We will never do that. It's a global market. If you restricted the US market to just our own supply, you would drastically raise the price of energy. That would be the stupidest thing in the world to do. Literally the stupidest thing.

As for the war on fossil fuels, add that one to the dusty bin of so called "wars on" that you guys keep around. The world is not going to live on fossil fuels forever. Just like we didn't live on burning wood forever. Sorry. I don't know why that's such a hard thing to grasp. There are better, and by better I mean in many ways, technologies that we can utilize than the ones we did 40 years ago to produce energy. We can be more efficient, which is supposedly something we value in this country though I think we're lying to ourselves on that one. We seem to value being able to waste stuff/excess more than anything else, but that's another topic.

Anyway, this project won't really matter much. The market is much bigger than what this will produce. But now you can't level charges against Biden as waging a war on fossil fuels, can ya? Or rather, you can try, but this will be waved in your/the GOP's through the 2024 cycle for sure. It's called smart politics. If you want to win a national election, you move to the "center." It's something your boy should have learned in 2020...

Energy independence is a little more complicated than it all stays home. We are an important part of the world market and what we do at home effects the rest of the world. We have seen the difference between the Trump and the Biden energy policies and most of us have formed our own opinion as to which we prefer. As far as centering up politically, that isn't at all what the left did. They are trying to get out from under responsibility for the worst of their projects now leading into the election.

This was actually first approved under Trump. Biden just couldn't figure out a way to kill it. Biden's other student loan stuff is being pushed back again until 2024 with no specific date given. What a shocker his department of education has had only enough time and money to process their own government employees PSLF changes but nobody else's.

That's the excuse we keep hearing from Biden's WH. Same excuse they used when Biden pulled out of Afghanistan; but Trump already made us do it!

That would be a good question for Biden.

"Joe Biden is looking voters in the eye and promising to “end fossil fuel.”
The former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate made the comment Friday after a New Hampshire environmental activist challenged him for accepting donations from the co-founder of liquified natural gas firm.

Biden denied the donor’s association to the fossil fuel industry before calling the young woman “kiddo” and taking her hand. He said, “I want you to look at my eyes. I guarantee you. I guarantee you. We’re going to end fossil fuel.”

    https://apnews.com/article/9dfb1e4c381043bab6fd0fa6dece3974

Given that we've seen a reduction in supply and an increase in cost, what are we eposed to conclude? That the Biden admin is following through with its promise to end fossil fuels, or he was full of **** and they just cant stop the coincidental reduction of supply and increase in price?

I still wouldn't expect to see this project blossom anytime in the next two decades. There are federal lawsuits seeking to block it that have to wind their way through the courts. I suspect with fracking becoming so accessible in the lower 48 though, it might price the project out of existence before they ever get to putting in the new pads on the north slope.
