Forums such as this one often carry threads about this or that outré, even outlandish statement, action, or perhaps even a proposed bill, by a politician. This leads to negative comments about the politician and, by inference, his political bedfellows. 'Yes, but . . . ' responses are common, too. The brouhaha's go on and on. Let's back up a step. The statements, actions and proposed bills do not come out of thin air. They're intended to convey a message. The politician is speaking to his/her base of voters, more often than not. Got that? Good. Now, what does that say about the politician's view of his loyal followers? I suspect that view's not complimentary. You can judge for yourself. Regards, stay safe 'n well.
Indeed. The politician that features frequently in headlines knows you are watching. Their actions and words are designed to have an impact on you, and thus, in a way, themselves and their own political future, more than anything.
We also overlook this when it comes to foreign leaders. When the Ayatollah or even the president of Mexico talks bad about the US, it is because they know it will please their supporters. When we expect our leaders to respond in kind, it creates a feedback loop that pushes the population of their country and us towards having more negative opinions of each other.
The proposed bills are for the purpose of gaining/maintaining political power. This power comes from our tax dollars. This says the politician is cunning and the supporters are gullible.
Yep. That’s why I’m not interested in partisan politics. Your “leaders” are not serving you, they are using you to amass power and money. And they don’t care which side you pick, as long as you pick a side.
