    https://screenrant.com/the-little-mermaid-2023-budget-box-office-prediction/

The actual budget hasn’t been released yet but as the article notes with a conservative figure of $200 million the new Little Mermaid would need to earn $500 million worldwide box office to be considered successful.

A presuming $200 million the low end success would be….$500 million.

The second weekend fall off for Little Mermaid was MASSIVE.

It got to enjoy a pretty decent opening with most competition cleared out on a holiday weekend but it has fallen very quickly with at least 50% lower business the second weekend.

With that sort of quick fall off, it’s going to be very hard for this movie to make what it needs before it becomes part of the Disney+ library.

Many reviews I’ve seen are steering clear of the casting and focus much more on how the CGI seems dank, dreary and the nearly extra hour of run time tacked onto the same story as before.

Another swing and miss for Disney.

We'll see. As opposed to most movies, the merchandising potential is far higher with this one. A whole new generation of LM halloween costumes, birthday party fair, and Christmas toys.

It is doing decent in the US, problem is that it did poorly overseas

Spider-verse will be the much bigger hit

I want to see Disney cast Stacey Abrams as Shamu the killer whale and make it free on the web. Not trying to be political or anything.

I understand they used Halle Berry to portray what was once a very redhead Irish looking character.

Did they also make her transgender or some sort of lgbtq or something like that?

Maybe if they would come up with new stuff instead of constantly doing remakes, they could create some characters that look the way they want them to.

Part of the problem is how lazy the entertainment industry has become.

They have no choice but do remakes/

There are plenty of people who aren't evil working in the entertainment industry.

Damn though. I was really hoping that if Ariel were black that we could finally solve black culture.
