You and I have differing opinions on what "the swamp" is. For me, and most people I think, it is the entrenched career political status-quo pervasive corruptocracy that has infested DC for decades. Trump only had 4 years in DC, and he made no friends. This is not a partisan phenomenon.

 

Those entrenched political career folks keep getting elected.

Trump was not even in my top five in the 2016 primaries but when he came out on top that year I had no idea what to expect from him. All I know is that he expressed my vision of a strong, free, secure, prosperous America with a government that worked for the people instead of the other way around. I had a long enough track record with Hillary to know she had nothing like that in mind at all. So I took a chance on Trump.

Trump had earned my vote in 2020 when he had exceeded all my hopes. He did produce a stronger, more free, more secure, more prosperous America for all and was taking government off our backs instead of piling more and more on. And he regained the respect of a world who was made to understand it had to do its fair share and could no longer take unfair advantage of us and use us as their sugar daddy and protector at our expense. And in the process he gave us the closest thing to world peace that any of us had ever experienced/

Those that don't do critical thinking , and want to believe his bill o f "goods" Once they buy into it , they continue to self reinforce their thinking which is also reinforced by Trump himself. Once this begins, they go deeper into this beleif of this person and logical reasoning no longer plays a part. That is how cults work.
The susceptible are actively conditioned with repetition until they literally regurgitate what they have been conditioned to believe. Not all republican's fell for his lies and malarkey. They , through their own clear eyed thinking escaped the conditioning process. To his cult , his lies are truth.....and they "justify " it in their minds with whatever "evidence" they can come up with. the mre he is cruised with acts, the more they dig in.
They don't think he should even be criticized. THAT attitude is not democratic and belongs in some third world regions.

He was NOT respected on the world stage. Many on the world stage laughed at him / and or were concerned about his predictable unpredictability. He was/ is a buffoon, undiplomtic, inarticulate and could not even handle standing by the Queen approriately. He made sure he was in front of her. Boorish. These things matter in diplomatic situations

He ranted against allies, but enjoyed and wanted to be accepted by dictators.
SOME of his ideas had merit, but he did not execute them with the finesse expected of one in that position. This country's reputation took a hit with this buffoon at the helm. The country was divided before he was in office, but he clearly made those divisions more acute . (and defined)
He was manipulated by the dictators as they knew he was no match for them.

His approach was to take a wrecking ball to the various systems he did not like ,creating instability and havoc. Change can be done more effectively with a more intelligent , moderate approach

 

I'm pretty sure honest history won't paint it that way. He was manipulated by nobody. The war in Syria ended. Kim stopped firing missiles over S Korea and Japan, China, Russia, Iran stopped saber rattling. Mexico had 25,000 troops on their southern border preventing the caravans from coming north. No new wars started anywhere. We had the closest thing to world peace any of us had ever seen. I am confident that if Trump was in the White House now there would be no Russia/Ukraine war.

He ran on a platform of stopping doing everything that didn't work and look for ways that did. He accomplished more in that regard than any President of my lifetime.

How many presidents has the USA had laughed at in person by other world leaders when making a speech?
And yet, some think he did great things.

He cost the R party the WH, Senate, and House in just 4 yrs.
Got impeached 2X.
Got voted out of his job as an incumbent.
Took gov't documents when he left and refused to return most of them.
Now has 91 indictments against him in 2 different stated and from the federal gov't.

And yet, members still think he is great.

Trump didn't build a wall to keep browns or blacks out of America. He built the wall to control the flow of illegal aliens and the flow of drugs coming into the country. Biden wouldn't finish the job and he left wide-open holes for illegals and smugglers of drugs, criminals and sex traffickers. Trump warned everyone that if you didn't control your borders that it would lead to an unlawful society and that is what is happening, too all you sanctuary city lovers stop your bitchin. You're getting what you deserve. If your not white, I wouldn't think you have any idea what white people think. I have no idea where you live but the majority of whites have friends of all races and color, sexual orientation and religion. Many of us have families of mixed types. The only reason you don't see many blacks at Trump rally's is because they don't go to them. Everyone is welcome. We all have the same problems and ambitions. A black person or Latino is safer going to a Trump rally than a white person wearing a MAGA hat in any Democrat function.
