Hmmm. But then that would be an example of you believing your own eyes.

Your claim was that you believe the government as opposed to your own eyes.

You are moving the goalpost here. I assume you must have realized just how much of a mind numbed government shill your claim revealed you to be.

I have no idea what context you're claiming growth from? Where, for example, did all the extra cash come from that is allowing you to pay off the debts? The most obvious question is your income from interest isn't cap gains, it's income, and taxed appropriately, so, it's hard to believe that a savings account is able to overcome the drag of taxation to allow for all of these windfalls... But hey, hope it all spins for you.

Thats not the question that was posed to you, but I do nunderstand you ameliorating your position, because your position was ridiculous. Of course you should believe your own eyes as opposed to whatever the government tells you to think.

If you had said you dont think the goverment tells you what to think, while I disagree with that belief, I would not have bothered to respond to you because Im not all that interested in that debate.

You were given a choice, and you chose the government. It is that choice that is the sole predicate of our discussion. Frankly, I have said all I need to say on the subject. It is probably time to move on.

Because federal government ALWAYS expands the money supply and causes a devaluation of the currency. It never deflates the money supply. The capitalist system works because of competition. Competition generally causes prices to decrease. It is the government that causes prices ALWAYS to increase.

Good, don't forget it. Government operates in its own interest. When its interest coincides with ours then that works well. When it doesn't then we have problems. It is important to know what is in government's interest when considering what it tells you. Government lies a lot.

    And there's more:

To our country’s detriment, many on the left favor open borders and pander to illegal immigrants—their present and future voters and contributors. Their positions on illegal immigration and the southern border demonstrate that nothing is beyond the pale for them when it comes to power—not even murder, animal/botanical/human parasites and diseases, human trafficking, illicit drugs (with over 100,000 Americans dying per annum as a result), terrorists, illegal importation of contraband, massive violation of immigration laws, suppression of wages, taking jobs from citizens and legal immigrants, stressing social services including healthcare and education, violation of our sovereignty, financing gangs and cartels, resultant costs for taxpayers, and turning a blind eye to resultant lawlessness and carnage in the U.S. and Mexico. As is typical of them, inconvenient facts and realities don’t matter and are ignored, especially regarding this issue. (Article 2, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution orders: “The President…shall take care that the Laws be faithfully executed...") Impeachment anyone?

I agree having the home free and clear gives peace of mind because it gives the most security possible. Knowing a job loss or other unplanned financial setback can’t put you out of your home is huge.

My residence is on a half section of farmland and pasture that will be paid off in two years. If I had it to do over, when I purchased, I would have set up the purchase in parcels, so that the house could have been paid off sooner than the surrounding land. Oh well. Live and learn.

I’m happy for you having even the bigger multi generational house paid off. That’s even more important when you have 3 generations depending on that roof over their heads.

Thanks, and good luck with paying off your mortgage. It's one of the days I remember most fondly, going to the bank with that last check and having a ZERO on the balance. Now, of course there will always be property/school tax to be paid, you can't pay that one off.

Being a German by birth, that's where I like the German property tax system much better. Most of their property tax is paid at the time of the sale (about 5-6%), however, the annual property tax rate is quite low, with the new law starting in 2025, it will be 0.31%. For my current house, therefore, I'd pay roughly 10-times lower property tax in Germany comapred to what I am paying in the US. That makes living on low, fixed income much more feasible in Germany -- once you own your house outright.

I bought this half section on terms from my in-laws so it would have been easy to separate the house from the farmland and pasture. Just wasn’t thinking straight when we set it up. It’s a big part of their retirement income so paying it off early with extra payments wasn’t an option. The house value is tiny compared to the surrounding land so I’m sure they wouldn’t have minded it being paid of early. Just never asked. I was younger and dumber then. LOL

I did not know anything about the German system. It seems well thought out. I like it. Pay the tax when working and have a good income and then give retired etc. a break. Thanks for sharing that.

Property tax here is atrocious. A function of good schools and low population I guess.

I've been told by the highly reliable main stream media that inflation is good actually and it doesn't really exist, so take that bigot!

Exactly! There isn't any, but if there is, that's a good thing!

80% More Expensive To Be Able To Afford a Home Compared to '20

From Trump to Bribed Demented Open Borders Joe:

'Now, Americans must earn roughly $106,500 in order to comfortably afford a typical home, a significant increase from the $59,000 annual household income that put homeownership within reach for families in 2020, according to new research from digital real estate company Zillow.'

This is why the Fed can't get inflation under control, Bribed Demented Open Borders Joe is running the gross federal debt up to the tune of $T/Quarter

Congress seems determined to keep the debt flowing into the pig troughs.
