Texas blocks Pornhub

A person can do a lot of things online without proof of age.

 

So how do you prove it? Click I'm 21 or older?

 

I was able to send emails from my PC if I used my phone as a hot spot. For some reason Comcast was blocking my outbound email traffic but not my inbound emails.

 

And those parents have options to do so. But, less freedom. Got it. That's certainly the direction the GOP is going. There's nothing there to appeal to anyone even remotely libertarian anymore, other than guns.

 

From what I had seen before from the Texas proposal, you'd have to provide an ID to the website using your webcam.

 

So is that actually a requirement now or not?
Somehow I doubt that's happening.

And make no mistake, they will be very broad with what they consider "sexual material harmful to minors."

 

Don’t you already need a credit card to view porn online? I dunno, but it seems to me that’s how they make their money. Don’t you have to be 18 to get a credit card?

I can’t even view meals offered on a home delivery plan without giving a credit card. This seems an easy way to solve this nightmare.

Not sure what constitutional violation exists by having to prove one’s age. You need that proof to buy hard copy porn. Same/same.

 

I have to show ID to buy a six pack of beer by state law. I'm almost 80 years old and no longer look like a 19 year old. Too bad I can't be 19 again but it is what it is.

Yeah, and this is on top of the state planning to make it illegal for Texans to leave to go to another state for medical care that is illegal in Texas. It gets worse. They are already trying to collect lists of people who have done so in the past.

 

Most parents pay very little attention to what their children do online, while good number of them are illiterate when it comes to smartphones, tablets and desktops.. Some thing should be regulated until such time parents are smarter then children when it comes to internet..

 

The law looks like it would affect them too. At last as it is written. Looks like it is for all adult sights, which Texas is likely to paint with a very broad brush. It won't be long before Texas claims this also applies to any site mentioning gender affirmation.

 

That's the thing about freedom: it also means taking some responsibility. But there are always those who will beg for more government control in order to avoid that. Their laziness shouldn't be everyone else's problem.

Since when? I've never had to use one. I've never had to show any kind of proof of age when ordering something from another state or travelling to another state to buy something. And if that law already exists, why the need for this one? Every ecommerce website would require proof of age. I've worked with ecommerce websites for years. I've never heard anyone claim anything like this before.

The most blaring problem is, there are "in some cases" two parents while there are a dozen or more wicked lil turds influencing children with far more time per day..

These are not the good ol days where one parent worked the other stood proper and vigilant..

Today's parents work their ass off and when they get home the last thing they want is more bullshit arguing form the children..

 

Under this law, all of them could be sued the same way hub was. But yes, a VPN easily gets around this. But, if the GOP ever figures out what a VPN is and that it can be used to no longer require ID from Texans, they'll argue that blocking traffic from VPN visitors in the same way. This isn't going to work for some VPNs, but for the cheap and free ones you can block VPN traffic.

For those of you wondering what the big deal is, have you ever heard of Ashley Madison? It was a dating website for cheaters. Disgusting, but hackers got ahold of the personal information of their users and published a list of the people who were on the site. That's also disgusting.

Now what happens when adult sites are storing people's IDs, with even more personal info than was released from Ashley Madison?

Still not a big deal; just provide a credit card. That should be proof enough that one is 18.
