Why do so many Americans seem to hate Netanyahu?

BTW your Guardian article is from 2003 - 21 years ago and 2 years before Israel left Gaza. The article has nothing to do with the situation in Gaza after Hamas violently took over in 2006 and started launching rockets in 2007.

Same here. My Wife and I have always liked PM Netanyahu. She's a Democrat and I'm a Republican.

Unlike many of the Christians United for Israel and AIPAC mouthpieces in the GOP, Trump seems to have begun distancing himself from the Israeli actions in Gaza. I suspect Trump's comments are partly motivated by electoral calculations, trying to make it easier for those disgusted with Biden's early blank check to Netanyahu and Israel to feel they will have a choice in the election.

Trump says Israel made ‘very big mistake’ with Gaza destruction

Trump wants Israel to eradicate Hamas as soon as possible.

As Trump has a very good chance of becoming President again, I hope he has the humanity to call out the monstrous actions that Israel has committed against innocent civilians. Biden is responsible for this slaughter by letting it happen, giving Netanyahu a blank check. Trump has a chance to redeem the US if he condemns Israel's actions. If he comes right out and doesn't mince any words, calling it ethnic cleansing and attempted genocide, I might even be willing to vote for him. But not if he is wishy-washy about it.

Trump will not go as far as you would like, but whatever else might be true about Trump, it is also a fact that he is adept at reading the political winds in the US and can read the writing on the wall as far as Israel's war is concerned. When Trump says Israel made a "big mistake" invading Gaza, you can tell what kind of predicament Israel gotten itself into.

I suppose you completely disagree with what Trump said.

The phraseology isn't all that important even if what I posted was verbatim and hyperlinked to the article from the Times of Israel opening passage. But since it was their formulation and not a direct quote from Trump, in terms of what Trump said specifically, below are his quotes:

Yes. Blockading Gaza for decades is Israel making constant war on all those in Gaza.

While the terrorist event was horrible, Israel LIED about it, too.

And, NOTHING justifies starving Gaza to death or the wholesale slaughter of civilians.
What the IDF is doing absolutely IS criminal, and they wouldn't be doing it without Netanyahu's orders.

Where the HECK should people put the blame for what Israeli Zionists are doing?

Words are important. Trump did not say that Israel made a mistake in going into Gaza to eradicate Hamas. Trump stated that the overall photographs showing the destruction of buildings in certain urban locations is a bad mistake. Trump is encouraging Israel to quickly end the war by eradicating Hamas as soon as possible.

Your hypothetical doesn't even SLIGHTLY apply.

There is NO evidence that Hamas acts amount to genocide. You should look up what genocide is.

Your accusations concerning Arabs is total CRAP. Until this slaughter of the citizens of Gaza, Arabs and Israelis worked together on trade and other significant projects.

You should learn what's going on there.

All of the above has been factually repudiated and yet you come back and repeat it endlessly. I guess that is to be expected when dealing with faith based narratives.

When hundreds of thousands are killed in Japan by nuclear weapons and that is not considered genocide and when a few thousand Gazan civilians are killed when eliminating ~ 25,000 Hamas terrorists, direct supporters, and willing human shields and that is considered genocide we have the epitome of a faith based narrative.

Trump didn't say anything about "eradicating Hamas". That is the kind of nonsense which doomed Israel from day 1. I said it at the time back in October: Israel has trapped itself by its delusional rhetoric.

The Hamas charter specifies the genocide of Jews and the destruction of Israel. Israel is defending its civilians from the terrorist attacks of the Islamic radical terrorist organization of Hamas.

I just posted what he said - end the war as soon as possible. To Israel that means the eradication of Hamas from Gaza. That is the goal and the end of the war. And that will be the first day of the “The Day After Hamas” plan.

Israel is closer to unraveling itself than eradicating Hamas. That will become clear, even to you, when this war comes to a halt.

The only functional Hamas military brigades are in Rafah. Israel will make short work of them. But look for Hamas to double down in the use of human shields as part of their dead baby strategy to win support internationally from those who believe in the faith based narrative that Israel is evil. Israel should level the place.
