Definitely Cohen lied a few times, once to Congress in the Mueller case. He had 3 months added to his sentence for that. And then also when he was first covering up for Trump. But there is a lot of corroborating evidence to support Cohen's accounts. I think we agree that, regarding the hush money, that's well-established, and easily proven for all 3 recipients. There is audio of Trump admitting it for the Stormy Daniels case. If you can believe Giuliani, there is also audio for the McDougall case. Once past that, Cohen incriminates himself (and Trump). He sets up the shell corporation to make the payments. Trump admits that he reimbursed Cohen $130K for Stormy. So what would Trump's lawyers say to discredit Cohen as a liar?

I may be missing your point in regards to a loan. Regarding the FRAUD charges, almost every source I looked at, didn't have a lot of detail. I'm not sure what evidence was presented to a Grand Jury, but it must have been convincing.

We'll see what Bragg has to prove FRAUD.

Prolly true. This is what happens when the legal system is weaponized against a populist- alienation of the populace.

We'll see if his lawyers are able to talk him out of an idea that stupendously idiotic.

He could only perjure himself, with any denial. Heck, the prosecution has an audio tape where he asks Cohen, "How much did the Storrmy Daniels hush money cost me?"

Will he actually testify...or say he begged his lawyers to but the deep state wouldn't let him?

He has zero intention of giving evidence. This is all posturing so that later he can say to the gullible, "I wanted to give evidence but 'they' would not let me. 'They' gagged me."

It's actually in his best interests not to testify. But I wanna make it clear: It's not just in his best interests, but generally in any defendant's best interests. There's a reason the US 5th Amendment exists, against self-incrimination.

(I know, Trump famously made his comments. But like you've all said, Trump is ignorant of law.). The 5th amendment exists, as a specific power afforded to civilians(defendants) to weigh the scales evenly with the government.

No one should ever infer guilt from a defendant invoking his/her 5th Amendment privileges. The framers intended to "prove beyond a reasonable doubt". It's not the defendant's job, even if guilty, to prove the case for the State.

He can say that, because its true. His loyalists will adore him no matter what, and when he is in trouble they pour out their support. I have never seen such idolatry before, - not in US anyway.

His fixer did time for this. Will he gain more support if he's sentenced to prison, even just for a short time?

I don't think there's anyone who steps in as much crap as Trump and still comes out smelling like a rose. It must be a gift.

Naw ... The Donald is much too squeamish and germaphobic to eat kittens. If it doesn't come in a McDonald's bag . . .

There is no shortage of evidence about who Trump is, and yet there are still tens of millions who can't or won't see it, and will continue to defend him. If they don't know who he is by now, it's because they don't want to know.

Not sure about any sort of incarceration...
Fine/Probation (Maybe House Arrest for a Month or 2) would probably be Trump's worst case in terms of sentencing...

Oh, I'm under no illusions that Trump will ever spend so much as a day in jail. We have a two-tiered justice system, but he's getting the kid gloves treatment like no other before him. He's never been held accountable for his crimes, so I don't expect this to turn out any differently. Anyone else would already be wearing orange, and I'm not talking about makeup.

My hope is that it gets ugly enough to keep him from getting elected, because we already know what will happen if he loses again.

Why not? What's one more charge, perjury, more or less? :wtf:

My only problem with Trump testifying is that there are no cameras allowed. Bummer.

Hilary recorded the Steele Dossier expense as business expense. Same offense, same city/state, same election. No charges for her. That's selective prosecution. He used his own money. Not sure about her. This was not even a crime. If the judge was worth a hoot, he would dismiss the charges.

if he testifies, like Clinton, he can be asked about his other Consensual affairs and if he ever cheated on his wives - so I do not think he will testify

The truth has to come out sooner or later. Trump may be in for the biggest embarrassment of his life. We'll see what happens.

The truth is already out. It makes no difference to those in Trump's thrall. The only voice they hear is his.
