And that is insisting that America enact the same laws how? Meanwhile you denigrate our society and country by
Referring to “nanny state” whilst insisting I cannot speak of Australian experiences. May I remind you also this board is an international one and it is a moderated board?

Oh! Oh! Oh! Please tell that to TD and others meantime allow me some fun speculation here. Are you suggesting that the citizens of your country should have access to anti aircraft weaponry to prevent another 9/11?

I’m suggesting that all citizens should be armed at all times. Even if it were just .22’s 9/11 would have never happened

At all times? Including loo breaks? How about showering? Even during a bedroom Rodeo??? (Mental image of……hmmm best not to go there…….)

And how would a .22 have stopped the planes from crashing into the WTC?

I never said you cannot speak about Australia. I maintain trying to pretend that Australian laws would work here is a mistake. and claiming the laws in Australia are "better', I reject

Would they? We are talking about the time BEFORE “air Marshall’s” and mags at all airports.

Somehow people forget how many hijackings there were pre 9/11

His family took his knifes away from him before. But those are easy to replace. In To Kill a Mockingbird they shot the dog so it wouldn't bite anyone.

If everyone on that plane had even a .22 they could have prevented them from being hijacked. It’s strange that this needs to be spelled out for you.

We do that here - if the dog is a public nuisance. It is one of the main reasons why our cops wear guns and one of the most common use of the police gun.

He had mental health issues and was probably in the midst of a psychotic break - one of the reasons he was difficult to stop as he would have been hypermanic and one of the reasons why it was almost imperative to shoot him and not simply try and disable him. This was no kitchen knife though. It was a 30cm long knife

Oh! Bunkum! Let’s look at the average passenger list - there are the inevitable drunks, the kids, the grannies who have a few bats circling the belfry, the nutters, the terrorist…….ooops! Did you forget them? If everyone had been armed do you not think the terrorists would have found a way of shooting everyone first? Then - you are on a plane - you know metal can that has a different atmospheric pressure inside than there is outside?

    https://science.howstuffworks.com/i...y Takeaways,or the cockpit's instrument panel.

Did you forget what happened when we did allow guns on planes?

How do you think the hijackers got the guns on board?

Omg! Where do I start? In the 1970s there were no mags in airports in fact you could wander out onto the tarmac at some of the airports. Guns were permitted on board

This “Clint Eastwood/ Sudden Impact” fantasy of just waving a gun in the air would not work. I posted why actually firing a gun is a recipe for disaster on board a plane.

Thing is it would not be just one bullet would it?

Are you asserting a bullet discharged inside a plane is insignificant?

It is the same fantasy that everyone on the plane who has a gun will be a “good guy”. Somehow it does not compute that letting anyone have a gun on a plane means EVERYONE can have one including criminals, terrorists and whack jobs

Bulls**t..! Please explain the freedoms that I am denied in this country…?

I work at a school…I do not have to pass through metal detectors each day.
    I have freedom of movement.
My wife, sister, daughters are free to seek reproductive medical care.

What am I NOT able to do, other than walk around like a latter-day Jesse James with a pistol on each hip…!?
