    Is Carroll above the law?

No, she is not above the law. What do you expect to happen to her?

What does a single minor charge have to do with anything?

You should expect her to be charged accordingly. Do you?

The point is to treat all people evenly under the law. There are a ton of people in NY who are in prison for illegal possession of a firearm. If we aren't prosecuting this crime anymore, should they be released? The criminal justice system is supposed to be colorblind. She admitted to committing this felony while under oath. And we know she didn't commit perjury on this point because when the police showed up at her house, they seized her illegal firearm. Anyone else would have been charged, and the evidence against her is incontrovertible. Why is she above the law? What other crimes do not apply to her to apply to everyone else in the state? If they don't prosecute her, how can they continue to prosecute people who commit this crime? Selective prosecution is inappropriate. If they don't charge her, they shouldn't charge anyone else in the future. But you know as well as I do that the next gang banger with an illegal firearm will be thrown in prison, even if that's the only charge.

I can't solve this comprehension issue. The point is pretty clear.

No, and I'm not even sure why you would need to ask if she was? Remember, you're the one who thinks laws shouldn't apply to everyone.

I agree. I'm not sure why she isn't being charged, especially since this is New York.

You're the one that Carroll shouldn't be charged. You must think the law doesn't apply to her.

    Absolutely not !

What sentence should she receive ? Or should she be indicted and have a trial first ?

BTW , what is “communicating a felony” ?

    @Bowerbird

Since you claim to not be able to see my post, I wanted to make sure you got the notification so you could respond.... Since you have failed to do so twice in this thread even though I have quoted you.

Do you think that the states should not be able to vote for people that limit their rights and that they should complain about it after they have been voting for those people?

Putting her in prison would interfere with her lawsuit against Trump. (Ridiculously, she was initially awarded a judgement against Trump, but it is currently under appeal)

It's well known the authorities in New York City have a vendetta against Trump, trying to use any leverage they can get against him.

As I said - I don’t follow every post you make. I have spent most of the last two days on the Aus thread about the Bondi Attack as for your question it seems apropos of nothing and certainly off topic in relation to this thread

Okay so let’s say your wife is 80 years old, has never committed any crime, inherited a gun from her father, never took the gun out of the house but hadn’t registered it, would you be screaming at the top of your lungs for her to go to jail for three to five years because she had committed a ‘felony’? I doubt it, you probably would get a lawyer and do everything to get it treated as a misdemeanour . Grow up. You only are posting this due to the sour grapes that Trump sexually assaulted Carroll and defamed her and he got convicted. If anybody should be in jail it’s Trump for a long list of crimes, after all, according to you, the point is to treat people evenly under the law.

"I don't care if E. Jean Carroll is arrested for a gun crime. Why would anyone? What is the angle that MAGA is driving at here? Does this change what Trump did?"

If my wife were intentionally committing a felony, I would expect her to be charged. I don't care how old someone is; the law applies evenly. I own firearms, and I own them legally. I have never possessed an illegal firearm. I am a supporter of the Second Amendment; however, I am not in favor of criminals having illegal firearms. That is something our society should not accept, regardless of how old someone is. The NY/NJ/MA region is very strict about illegal firearm possession. Everyone who lives in those states knows this fact. They even prosecute active members of the military who are first-time offenders. It is a mandatory statute.

Trump is being prosecuted under new interpretations of the law that have never been prosecuted before so they can get him in criminal court during a campaign. You'll likely have your wish. But that has nothing to do with a criminal possessing an illegal firearm and your apparent desire to allow them to get away with it. Why should Trump be prosecuted but not other criminals? Let me guess.. because that criminal is suing Trump... I did a quick forum search and you have made posts on this forum in support of illegal firearm possession. So these views appear to be 100% hypocritical.

The lengths some people are going to defend illegal firearm possession in this thread is amazing.

First of all, Carroll is not a criminal. She wasn’t concealing the fact she had a firearm. So if your wife inherited a gun, kept it in her room, had no intention of using it except for protection — which would you want - having the police remove it until a licence is purchased or have her go to jail for at least 3 1/2 years. If you choose jail than you are a shittee horrible husband. How can you have all citizens in the USA treated equally under the law when the law depends on where you live? How much does it cost to put a person in jail for 3 1/2 years? When the system is so overcrowded, unfortunately a person who has simply not purchased a licence for a gun, has no criminal record, doesn’t carry it on her person, and inherited it is not going to be put in jail. And seriously who cares anyways.

    Trump is a criminal.

I have made posts related to guns in the UK. I base my opinion on circumstances just like most in the legal system do. Like I said it’s sour grapes because you can’t stand that someone stood up to your orange hero and he got charged. Many go to jail for what he has done and it looks like his luck is running out. It’s hypocritical to say people should be treated all the same, yet you constantly protect Trump who is free when others have served time for doing the same thing.

So you are against guns laws? Not having a license to own a gun in NY is a felony. So a felony is a minor charge?

I like the way you think ! Now we can prosecute EVERYONE who turns up with a firearm without a license ! Anyone who receives a firearm as a gift, inherits one is now on the block !

Thank you for this endorsement of gun control laws !
