Executive Summary: Dou¢hebag brings a big knife to a shopping mall in gun-free Sydney, and has himself a party. He's finally taken down by an armed cop, after he murders 5 and stabs several more, including a small child. Kudos to the cop for doing her job, instead of following the Uvalde precedent. Sadly, Australia still has serious issues to address - namely common-sense knife control: No one needs a knife with a blade longer than 3 inches. No one needs a knife with more than 8 serrations. No one should be able to buy a knife as easily as a book from Barnes & Noble. Background checks and waiting periods. Now. No one needs a knife with a black finish. That's a weapon of war - an assault knife - and its only purpose is to hide in the dark and kill as many people as possible. Ban assault knives. Now. So let it be written, so let it be done.
