Look at her. It's taking me 2 years to build a barndominium and she can raise a "bar-dominium" in seconds.

 

When did the first bar post? I think I signed up in 2010 and this has remained the forum I most frequent-the only one now. Facebook gobbled up everything I think. Any who ya all, this post made me wonder if I posted a Dedication to Toby Keith. Better go check and make one for him if I haven't.

Home Depot 5 for $10 mulch sale here just started. My back is gonna be so sore before it is over. got 50 bags. now I need to putdown 50 bags.

It is. it is basically a penny and a half short of half off.

 

Just went up the road a bit to a popular spot on the river to cast nets some tilapia that are abundant. Was also able to remove a lot of invasive plecostomus which I threw up on the bank to die which is what you are legally supposed to do.... Damn things are taking over the river.

I have to work tonight so I didn't feel like either cleaning fish tonight or going into town to get ice for the 6 tilapia that I caught, so I gave them to a Spanish mother that had several children that had expressed interest.

Imagine that, racist ass me giving fish to a brown skin family for free.

My good deed for the day, eliminate some invasive fish and feed a family.

Tilapia are also invasive but at least they are good to eat. I was born and raised in Florida and I have tried to eat everything that either flies swims crawls or walks. Plecostomus are truly survival food only.

You need 10 snips and a saw to clean them and you get a few mouthfuls of red muddy Brown mushy meat that I would truly only try again if I was starving to death. The damn things are worthless for anything but compost.

 

We put out the first Hummingbird feeder but no warriors yet. Soon ....I hope.

 

I was thinking' it's been around as long as I can remember. I was a wee little newb back in 2009.

We have one last batch of late bloomers - Poet's Daffodils - that are blooming right now. I'll see if I can get a picture of them this evening while I'm weeding the vegetable garden (ugh). My tomato seedling are ready to get their feet in the dirt, but we're headed back down into the 30s again tonight.

 

Is that a no mow lawn? Very nice

 

Supposed to frost tonight so I have spent a lot of time this morning and this evening covering everything up as best as I could. Effing lying weatherman had no where near frost temps in forecast a couple days ago.

 

It was no mow when I took that picture but not anymore. Most of the grass will go dormant from mid-Autumn to mid-Spring and then it'll shut down during the hottest part of summer, so I have to maintain it for 5-6 months. I also let several acres in the North 40 go wild all year and then I'll get it bush hogged after the Goldenrod is spent in late Fall.

 

Bummer - I hate late frosts. Last year we got a few late frost/freezes and it knocked out all the fruit trees. Tonight we're headed for 38 or so in the Lower Piedmont, so we're safe from the frost but cold enough to get rid of the last of the firewood I have split.

 

My peach trees are loaded down with babies. I am hoping it doesn't thin them all out. Mother nature can have the tops. I can't reach them anyway

 

I took thousands of cuttings of creeping phlox in a no - mow attempt. I found that cutting the spent blooms on a high setting and it keeps the phlox stimulated and I mow at least half as much. It also spreads from year to year.

 

I show off too much. Anyway, this is summer to spring. I ran a mower over it last fall to knock down weeds. The roots grow so thick it crowds out the weed roots and the mower cuts off the tops....at least I hope so. 2nd year.

 

Wow - they came out real nice. I remember when you had just planted them.

I take it that spot gets full sun all day?

 

Pretty much full sun. Morning till late afternoon. Enough for tomatoes.

 

When you accomplish something special it isn't really showing off. Sharing?

 

Believe it or not I turned on the heat yesterday it was a bit chilly here.
How many different kinds of daffodils does your wife grow?

 

My wife sighted a hummingbird in the Honeysuckle but none at the feeder yet.
