This will finish BMW off. Electric cars are sub standard. All electric cars.

Once the novelty wears off it'll just be garbage.

Just wait until the Supreme Court overturns EPAs ability to regulate CO2 in June.

Then you'll really see what a free market is.

"Free Market" does NOT mean there are no regulations.

There are no businesses that operate without regulations that affect them.

Why are you concerned about regulation on CO2?

Because it's idiotic and, because CO2 is not a pollutant, it can't be regulated like one. Nobody has said there should be "no" regulations and we've had regulations on actual pollutants since 1970. Nobody has seriously argued them. Again, NOBODY. At this point actual pollutants are almost non-existent. But you'd know that if you looked up actual EPA standards that are public record.

Mathematically Miles Per Gallon is an exact inverse of CO2 per mile. Taking CO2 to zero means that MPG goes to infinity. That's simply logically absurd.

The EPA standards mean that there is no free market. EPA is simply making it impossible to make an ICE vehicle that can be sold in the US.

And that is an economic disaster waiting to happen. Again, automakers will be forced to sell vehicles no one wants and will be legally prohibited from selling vehicles people want and in many cases, need since EVs are technically inferior at doing work. Work that needs to be done to keep the country running.

No matter what misguided views you have on the supposed dangers of CO2, the practical implications are simply disastrous.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court is likely to stop EPAs authority to regulate CO2 in June. And since the way that authority came about (via a very sloppy structure of the Clean Air Act that progressives like you took advantage of) is fatally flawed, that decision may also take out EPA authority to regulate actual pollutants too.

Guess you folks should have thought about that 40 years ago.

And per the title of this thread, BMW is halting ICE production. They are not being forced to do this. They see the writing on the wall, and want to sell a superior product with zero pollution where the car is being driven, and zero CO2 where the car is being driven..

You're close. Seems they intended to in 2025 but like just about everyone else, they seem to be pausing before pulling that dumb trigger.

In the US the whole thing seems to have ground to a bit of a halt. My guess is that they're waiting to see what happens in June before shooting themselves in the head as the government is intent on making them do.

And now we've got yet another lawsuit seeking to halt this EV insanity:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/s...S&cvid=0592155b302844b6a4c81ec97ae16c7a&ei=22

I'm getting more and more confident that common sense will prevail and this whole ridiculous EV mandate will fall apart and EVs will go back to a 2% or 3% share of rich peoples toys. Just like they've always been.

I rode a bicycle, commuting to and from work, year-round, for 30 years. That's an effective way to end tailpipe emissions. It's not all about EVs. There's Light Rail and other options as well. It's very unlikely that EVs will go down in demand to 2 to 3%, as they are currently at 6-1/2%, and the upward trajectory will continue, especially as EVs continue to come down in price. The latest batteries are lighter, with more energy density, and safer than ever; so that will bode well for future EV sales. All that said, I don't think you have to worry about ICEs going away in your lifetime. I'll never buy another one, but most Americans seem to be in a waiting mode. I think that many are just waiting for that next big technological breakthrough.

As I've mentioned many times, CO2 is only one of the problematic emissions of ICEs.

We are subsidizing ICE transportation (oil, ICE vehicles, etc.) by accruing expensive healthcare damage. Also, climate change charges are increasing, meaning that it IS expensive to continue ignoring the climate change costs that come from ignoring anthropogenic contributions - such as (but certainly not limited to) ICE emissions.

Yes. Forty years ago we knew Earth was warming, due to anthropogenic contributions.

We decided not to require cars to have reasonable mileage, factories to have little to no limits on emissions, etc., etc.

Indeed, we should have thought of what we were doing when depending so significantly on fossil fuels.

There will always be corporations that want to treat our air, water and land as a toilet regardless of impact on the population.

That's why we created the EPA!

There is NO justice in demanding that citizens suck up the sewage these corporations spew.

And, that is EXACTLY what these lawsuits demand. They WANT to pollute. The last thing on their mind is what it is doing to the population.

Forty years ago, we should have started constructing a high speed rail system like Europe and many Asian countries.

Again, about as confused as can be.

Loper looks to end that confusion for you.

And that's why your inability to play by the rules may just end up destroying EPA's authority to do anything.

If only you'd chosen to push your grand ideas through Congress with legitimate legislation instead of cheating.

    But that's too late now.

Good luck with that. America values the EPA, and all the history of what they've done for the country.

Speaking of that, how's that high speed rail project between LA and Las Vegas going? Anything up and running yet or is it still just a hole you throw money into?

Has nothing to do with what America values. It has to do with progressive's overreach and cheating the system through the courts instead of properly legislating their authority.

And now your greed might bring it down.

But don't worry, if America truly values EPA, you should be able to get a proper Congressional majority to fix the Clean Air Act.

Good luck trying to do it the right way.

Do you hate everything except Internal Combustion Engine cars? I'll bet you love gridlock traffic! BTW that's a private venture - Brightline. They already have a high-speed rail line in service between Miami and Orlando.

Funny, the link at the end of the post isn't even related to the topic of the thread.

Nope. Just hate lying and cheating con men who hate the free market. Historically, that never ends well.

Cybertruck Turns Into Large Metal Brick After Going Through Car Wash
For a vehicle specifically designed to go anywhere, Tesla's Cybertruck seems like an extremely poor choice for getting from point A or point B. Even keeping the vehicle clean is a bit of a nightmare. As one recent owner found out, even a car wash was able to defeat the 6,600-pound pickup. As spotted by […]
