The Great Barrier Reef has been under their jurisdiction since 1975. Just the fact that your reference by Paul Homewood calls the BBC Article corrupt should tell you something. BBC is reporting the state of the reef, as described by this 50-year caretaker of the reef. Paul Homewood is misguided. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority mission is as follows:

2014? You gotta be joking! Ten years ago and a parliamentary enquiry? Do you even know the purpose of those? They are quality assurance reviews and if deficits are found the ABC is required to correct them. This is the process we use to ensure the ABC gives good value for money and maintains high standard. These reports will detail everything down to non flushing toilets
