    What is the navy doing?

Nothing in Ukraine, not much around Iran.
We need a war that will involve the 7th Fleet.

And against a big country we think we might be
    able to defeat.

    We have already agreed to the One-China Policy;
that Taiwan is part of mainland China,
but we can always change our mind.

What makes war look good is the expectation of winning.
America with ten times the GDP of Russia and more than
ten times the military expenditure for many years looked
    a dead cert.

And with the backing of the NATO countries if needed.

It didn't work out, but look at this:

If Democrats can suspend voting and declare an emergency, sure, why not. =)

7th Fleet versus PLA is not a good idea. Conventional war between major nuclear powers is too risky.

What is needed is some chump nation to start a proxy war with China. Taiwan isn't suitable because a relative handful of Chinese missiles could disable 60% of global semiconductor manufacturing, including most of the advanced types. Japan is a bit too big for the job. It's questionable whether they would need the US in a battle over the Daiyou Islands. South Korea versus China would also blow up and involve North Korea - this is a land war, not the Naval battle you want.

The likely "Ukraine of the Pacific" is Philippines, our former colony and current client state. They have a tiff going over the Second Thomas Shoal. However, they don't have enough of a navy to be credible against the PLA. But maybe with a supply of old US destroyers, cruisers, and some conventional submarines from our allies, they might be pumped up to where they could engage in some fairly disastrous battles with China. After all, we don't care whether they actually win or how many ships and sailors they lose. The objective is to evaluate the capabilities of the PLA and to serve as a cause to organize our allies to further isolate China economically and politically from the rest of the world.

Thank you, that's a plausible plan for a war against China.

Is that a serious question? Of course I'm against any war involving American citizens fighting. Unless of course in a case where the US is directly attacked. Then all bets are off.

It's not a question, it's a statement. The point being that the US is involved in all current wars. Without the US MIC grifters sticking their noses where they don't belong, there would be no wars.

There is a fairly large scale civil war going on in Sudan. There doesn't seem to be any direct US involvement in this one, although we may be operating through a cutout in the Middle East.

The war in Ukraine is costing us a fortune, it even cost a lot to start.

Funding Israel's genocide is also expensive, and both wars are costing
our reputation far more than anyone can imagine.
