I've been trying to fix my plastic usage but there doesn't seem like much I can do. All my plastic bottles were OJ and Seltzer. I can buy OJ by the carton instead but I have never seen Seltzer in anything else but plastic. I guess I could get one of those soda stream things but I don't have the room for any new devices. Also what's up with getting a box inside another box or things that are like triple packaged? What's the point if it isn't a fragile item? I ordered an ergonomic mouse that came in its own nice box an that box was in another box about 4x its size. We really are a wasteful species!
I would agree. However the manufacturers must make a product that can be recycled in an efficient manner. When a consumer recycles aluminum, the procedure is straightforward. Can you say the same about plastic?
The way that consumers have to solve such problems is to use the law to stop production of such materials that damage our health. That's the method that consumers have for cleaning our rivers, our air, our oceans, our food products, our medicines, etc.
Certainly. The only caveat would be that the effort is based on actual law passed by actual legislators rather than agency regulations created by unelected bureaucrats.
Yes. Our system is a representative democracy. Of course, we allow corporate forces to put their thumb on the scale. Nobody claimed it's easy.
This isn't a US thing. This is a world thing. And the world MUST come together and solve this issue. I mentioned earlier, that according to one study, in a 10-year period, every person is ingesting the equivalent of an ocean buoy of plastic particles.
