If it bothers you so much, log off of the forum and spend your time watching cricket or rugby. Or join an NZ political forum and share your wisdom there.

Hey, what ever makes you folks sleep at night and makes you feel less inadequate.

Having lived in New Zealand in the past, I found the people there to be very friendly. They seemed very interested in aspects of America and we had many polite, mutual exchanges of information. I must say I think New Zealand is a beautiful country with, for the most part, the friendliest people I have ever met. Except whey they are behind the wheel of a car. Then they are crazy.:p

That's why we are addicted to car insurance and free health care.

We normally avoid discussing those item with stranger, because any discussions can become heated. Can you imagine the members of this forum discussing things face to face?

No, the politicians run on big money. The system does not have to.

As I said before, politicians run on "big money" which usually equates to "corporate America".

Yes, we are. that is why a movement like the "Tea Party" can be a good thing....until is is absorbed by the corruption.

The politicians make the laws. The politicians are in love with "corporate campaign and lobbying contributions". As long as we have only 2 parties that are basically the same, the people have no other choice but to either rise up to stop it, or vote the same politicians in.

I agree with this, or even better, eliminate public campaign funding altogether.

Our Constitution is not set up to require a number of members from any party...and it shouldn't. You suggestion is dangerous. It could allow a party into our government that is controlled by a very small minority. Isn't that how the Nazi Party grew in Germany?

"Freedom of Speech"...one of our cornerstones. Not always perfect, but better then if we go down the road of telling people what they can and can not say.

Again....politicians make the laws and gerymandering helps the politicians. See #1 above.

There are a lot of politicians that should be prosecuted...on all sides of the political isle. Until the do something illegal, they can't be touched. Heck, they can even cross over the legal line and probably not be touched.

All of your suggestions are just laughable in our current system and are similar to a nagging spouse trying to "back seat drive". In otherwords, it is easy to make suggestions, but very difficult to implement.

Don't you think that the American people are tired of the political situation/corruption? Until the people stand up and say "enough is enough", nothing will change. Again, that is what is good about the Tea Party. Sure, their platform may not be perfect, but it is a showing of people that are trying to say "enough is enough".

Obama ran on the platform of "Hope & Change". Some of the "change" he was going to make were:

No more back room deals - No change here...they are still happening.

Allowing the public time to read the bill before it is voted on - They didn't even allow time for Congress to read the health care bill before it was ramrodded through Congress.

More Transparency - We actually got less transparency

The "Hope & Change" the people want is how Congress and the President conduct business. We get campaign promises from candidates that they will do just that....until they are elected. Then the "Hope & Change" suddenly refers to something else.

Currently, our system has been turned up side down. The power is resides with the Federal Government. It was intended to reside with the States. Until the States regain control again, not much will improve.

Any more suggestions? Maybe some that might actually change things?

Americans actually do something when a democracy is invaded. They actually do something when there is a threat to global freedom. Try that, what have the New Zealanders done since America, Britain, Spain, and so many others(including muslim nations) have been victims of terrorism, except send a few pittyful troops to appease the international community.

And when a radical fundamentalist government is aquiring nuclear weapons, what do they do besides criticize those who want to do something, and limit anyones ability to do anything.

No more suggestions. Just plod on as you are. But do not expect us to react with anything less than glee when your system finally implodes.

To be pro-American it helps a lot if you are American. Mexicans can help you with that. Once you're in you should adopt the American Way of Life. That means you should immediately (well, after you've paid the Mexicans) buy an SUV and a gun. Some places that sell SUVs throw in the gun for free so see if you can get that deal.

How to behave as an American depends a lot on where you live. To be a good American in Los Angeles is different than say the slums of Seattle (all of Seattle). You've already got a gun and an SUV so you're all set for LA freeways.

If you move to a liberal part of the US (liberal in the US is anything left of Mussolini) you can still be pro-American but it's necessary that you feel guilty about it. And eat salads.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Guilt-ridden salads. No mayo. Yes, I see.

American Way of Life (AWOL) is attainable with a 1990 Honda Civic and a slingshot?

You guys are all completely off the ball. The only way to truly enjoy the American experience is to have our military invade your country. Then you can be free like us!

Nah, then you're just a loser who thought he can step up to the U.S. Military.

That would be that 100,000 strong army currently negotiating surrender terms with a bunch of Afghan guerillas?

That's just a trick. The Afghan guerrillas think they're signing America's surrender terms but what they're really signing is an agreement using Afghanistan as collateral for sub-prime derivative backed mortgage investment 'instruments'. By morning Afghanistan will be owned by the Bank of China.

Ah, a strategy to collapse the Chinese economy.

Whose collapse will unwittingly bring to power those that have, with foresight, shorted the American economy.

These are of course the illegal Mexican aliens who have infiltrated the US in preparation for such an event.

It's a two pronged approach. The other plan to destroy China involves building GM plants there, financed by AIG.

But won't the inevitable $1 trillion bailout shore up the Chinese liability of acquiring Afghanistan?

See that's the beauty of it all, we won't pay China, we'll pay GM! Wait, in this scenario that's paying China isnt' it. (*)(*)(*)(*) it. Well at least they'll be backed by AIG, which is bound to fail. Oh wait. Ah, isn't big government wonderful!

You might take into account that the american political system does not represent the will of the people.

Most americans want a Constitutional government. To be american, is to be for freedom(and the responsibilities that come with it), morality, self-reliance, charity and love of country(sovereignty).

"Freedom" needs a lot of work too.

"Love of country" is simply misplaced.

Hard to love the political system Americans allow to run their country when senior politicians do this sort of thing.

It's no surprise of course. Just the tip of the iceberg. And just more reason to wonder why Americans don't do something about their rampant political corruption.

Or is it that they just don't they get the joke?

He was arrested, convicted and disgraced. He faces a sentence of 5 -19 years in prison. It seems to me that our justice system works quite well.

As for political corruption, all countries have their problems with corrupt politicians.
