If you can't afford to provide for a family of 7 with 6 kids, maybe he should have worn more rubbers. $174,000 is in the top ten percentage, how much more does he want?
leave it to the GOP to show their playing cards... many wealthy people who don't want to be taxed are angry at this politician.
That was a pretty dumb thing for him to say. I think that everyone is Washington must be prepared to cut their own pay and if they are not vote them out and find someone who will do it.
Good lord dude, typical class envy Liberal; you whine about how much he makes, then spout off that he shouldn't have kids if he can't support them. But the point he is making is that he CAN support them making $174K and but still has to live modestly and then you and your fellow Liberals parroting the idiot talking points of the DNC whine about how much he makes in a year without any thought to his living expenses. Once more we see the dilemma of Liberal ideology and its hypocrisy and irony; next you will be saying that people should be limited to how many kids they should have so they don't have to make that much to support them. NEXT!

This is the mass failure known as Liberalism; they want to be the "deciders" of wealth, how much we should be making, how many kids we should have, what cars we can drive and now, where to live. For those still in doubt about the failure of Liberalism, any questions?
Apparently you missed his tax bill and how expensive it is to be a Congress person with two homes. Most have to live in DC while Congress is in session and then go back to their homes during recess. Do you think we should force him to make less so he can collect food stamps and obtain Government assistance to raise his kids; or are you another one who is going to dictate to us how many kids we should and can have based on your ideological views? Once again we have a case of "deciderism" here where one size should fit all shoes. How does that work in Cuba or China? I assure you that with a heavy mortgage for a house large enough for a family of four, two car payments, huge tax bills and the cost of raising two kids, my combined marital income of $200K is barely sufficient to even save for retirement; particularly from the debt I accumulated being out of work for a year. I guess we shouldn't make this much and live in a grass hut according to Libruls.
Is that what this was??? I read it as a whine and mudslinging event against ONE Republican Congressman. I saw nothing in the OP about ALL of them or Democrats; just this one who had the audacity to tell the truth like it is and how his income doesn't go very far with 7 kids and living part time in DC.
I can read a lie from a thousand miles away. This is nothing more than outright BS; unless of course you're talking about 30 years ago; then perhaps.
There is nothing more to this thread than the typical hot steaming pile of whiney leftist bile; too bad you apparently fail to smell the stench of envy whenever Liberals post in here. I will assume it is due to your selective outrage and myopic point of view.
There you have it folks; the biggoted and ignorant "decidersim" of Liberal ideology on full display. Any questions?
Ah yes, the idiot Liberal DNC talking point that presumes that Presidents can just walk into the local grocery store and buy groceries without disrupting an entire community with secret service security arrangements. The only ones living in a parallel universe are the idiots who parrot such asinine nonsense.
Can you please quote anyone from the Republican side that has made such a claim with a credible link to the source? Thank you. Once again we see the outright fabrication of claims in a desperate bid to impugn those who disagree with such an idiotic and failed ideology.
Ugh. The cost of 7 kids was different 3 years ago than today. 7 years ago? Anyhow... The most I ever made at a company was 120k. I had no kids... I determined at that point that I would live paycheck to paycheck no matter how much I ever made. I was right. This has more to do with money management than anything. At the same time, The Hat and I are at odds. I believe more than 4 children require the children to do as much raising as the parents... if all young. On 50k... how many tuitions can you cover... covering the costs of their lives until that is necessary? Surely The Hat loves his kids... however this level of short sightedness of burden is choking their potential. We have 2 and they require all of our attention and finances... and, while this year I am likely to clear less than 50k, typically I make more. I don't believe in magic, and I am intimately involved in the raising of my kids. 50k is not enough for 6... esp if you plan on college. If memory serves Hat home schools. We private school. We sure as hell could not afford 6. Hat... you will come back at me hard. I know I would in your position. Of course... I am not IN your position... by design.
You know , LM , it seems to me that the people that complain the most against Obama are the people making $175 K / year ... It's about enough to make me Millions have lost their homes because their jobs are in China , and this guy can't make it on $ 175 K / yr .. WTF ? That goes to show the absolute dis-connect between the Republican Party and the American people ... and I would have given you points for your excellent post , but I got to spread it around a bit before I can again .
WTF ? He should try it on $ 11 K / year like I have been doing ... That $175 K would be like winning the lottery to me
well , Truth Detector , Celica is right , and quite frankly I am disappointed in your response . I have found Celica's post NEITHER biggoted nor ignorant , and you should appologise for that remark .. Our Congressmen & Senators are but shyster lawyers and are not deserving of respect or financial reward for a job very poorly done but our teachers deserve better , and they have earned my respect and I feel that they should be better appreciated for the job that they have done / are doing / and will do ...
Yeah, let a teacher maintain two residences to do his or her job. One in the home district and one in DC. Then there is the cost of living in DC itself. I understand it's quite high. Not to mention travel costs. Maintenance of several district offices etc. I personally thing the congress and president don't get paid enough. Current pay is not conducive to getting highly qualified candidates. It's also conducive to bribery.
