This forum seems to encourage extremists but then again so does everything else.

I find it a little disturbing and at the same time quite enlightening that in order to get a response on this forum you must have an outrageously extreme viewpoint on a subject. Instead of addressing a subject with ones beliefs and letting a debate build, people would rather come out of their corner swinging. There does not seem to be much of a moderate voice on this site. Then again there is not much moderation left in American politics anyway. Politicians are trapped in a media storm where it is more important to prove the opposing party wrong than to actually solve the problem. Maybe this is why some "sleezy" politicians would rather lie themselves into the ground than ever admit fault. Not only that but when they do admit fault it is a last resort to save face, not what I look for in an apology. All I'm saying is look past all the petty disagreements and realize that perhaps the problem lies within the political rivalry itself.

I am afraid they are, do people just learn to be so extreme naturally? I won't believe that people have not given up being right all the time until FOX news and CNN decide to not just report the opposite of whatever the other station broadcasts, if you do not think that affects peoples attitudes toward party lines then you are mistaken. I am no saying that every liberal believes everything they see on CNN or vice versa for FOX/conservatives but when a liberal takes a peek at Fox and sees nothing but bash campaigns, (again vice versa for conservatives) that is not going to affect that persons feelings towards the other party? All I am saying is there is something wrong when John Stewart puts less spin on politics than said political networks.

After 19 posts, you blame the forum for not agreeing with you.

I am laughing at you while agreeing with you at the same time.

The name of the game is passion; passion in bringing one's particular political brand or ideology to the table to debate. If you're a moderate, an independent, a centrist or just a plain fence sitter then you have a 'ZERO' belief system where you're better off visiting a chit chat forum for teeny boppers who enjoy talking scatter brained ragtime nonsense.

This forum will definitely polarize you if you stay here long enough. No doubt about it. I've seen several people who appeared rather moderate when they first arrived here become hardcore partisans within a few weeks time. I might even put myself in that category to be perfectly honest.

But I was with you until you said this.....

Jon Stewart has been outed in recent times for the partisan hack that he truly is. From his faulty accusations of Fox News viewers being the most consistently misinformed (as it turns out, his own viewers are actually less informed) to these interesting little tidbits from Steven Crowder.....

He is no different from anyone else you are talking about here.

It's funny how all the extremists line up like ducks in a row to politely disagree with your OP.

You are so right. Passion is what enables everyone to debate a certain issue, or at least an interesting debate. I couldn't agree with you more!

That is just a stupid statement. Just because someone is moderate, an independent, or a centrist doesn't mean they sit on the fence at all. It simply means we are complex people, in other words, we do not just step in line with one ideology, but rather several. Yes this does work, and the best leaders in this country have proven not to be in lock step with any single ideology. Those of us who are moderates understand this "zero tollerance" issue is so off the scale wrong, we need to fix it. How we fix it is where Statesmen come in to play. Unlucky for us now, but there are not enough Statesmen sitting in power, but rather those who throw the blame on the other guy.(Both sides, not just one). If the attitude of the masses continue to enjoy the blame game, then we get what we deserve, I for one have had far too much and it is time for action, no more words.

    Good question, MissJonelyn!

"Extreme" in my view are people like Jimmy Hoffa and avowed socialist Maxine Waters!

Extreme is a subjective word, with different meanings to every one. What I call extreme might be mild to some one else.

I don't pay attention to "extreme" (by my definition) posters. Being "extreme" is being an attention whore. I'm not into being an attention whore and I don't reward those who are by giving them my attention.

I'm not here to get "attention."
