You might be right for the highschools. But the university definetely proves the Turkish influence. The whole thread is meant to provide information that there's not only the Turkish army in the region, but the Turkish educational institutions as well.

As for the badness of the Turkish side. I am not here to defend Turkey's every single policy. On the contrary I am quite critical about the Turkish policy on Kurds. So If this thread implied how bad Turkey is, then have fun. :trout:

But to me, It's an indication of a deepening relationship, as Barzani said.

like Idea said , kurds are not interested in turkish language , we only study in Kurdish and 2nd language is English both are compulsory at schools colleges and university , the turkmens do however cos i know heaps of them when they finish school college or uni they go get jobs in turkey get married and never return , so in a way turkey is pulling most turkmen out of south kurdistan un-intentionally . the biggest turkmen population in KRG is in kerkuk and that private college is in that city . and there number in south kurdistan is very small 100-150000 vs 20 million kurds in turkey who cant still have and go to kurdish schools in there native lands .

    What top quality racist remarks!
Azeris and others are Turkic, not Turkish. Don't marginalize them to satisfy your own bigoted views.

There are also 160 million Iranian (Aryan) people in which Kurds make up the third largest group after Persians and Pashtuns. But this hardly proves anything.

I would want to disagree, but I'm afraid I have to say you are correct. Very sad though!

Turkey oppressed Kurds since its creation, Kurds remained poor and uneducated because of the neglect and oppression.

If those schools belong to Gülen movement, then the Iraqi Kurdistan should get rid of them as soon as possible. Those guys are no use, they spread like a virus, they don't bring anything good but brainwashing for their movement. I don't support them in Turkey, and I would not support them in Iraqi Kurdistan, too.

they only have "private" schools in Kerkuk out of the 4 provinces of KRG , and the students are all turkmen , we cant really stop them if thats what they want and if they want to be brained washed thats something their parents responsible of . but i know a few that finished their and moved to turkey and got married as Kurdish is the only official language in KRG not even Arabic let alone turkish . i am from kerkuk myself so has been my great great grandies , i have had turkmen neighbors they told me their language its not close to Turkish but its azheri . mind you my mum understands turkmen cos when she was lil her best friend was a turkmen and she understands the language not turkish , we went to iran 10 years ago and we met some azheris when they spoke my mum understood everything again .

I'm not sure if those schools belong to Gülen so I don't want to accuse anyone for anything. That's why I used the word if. Speaking about Azeri language, it also is very close Turkish. I have never studied Azeri langauge yet I myself can understand at least 85%-90% of their language.

I'm not sure. But if your Iraqi Turkmen friends are able to understand Azeri language easily, then there it shouldn't be that difficult for them to understand Turkish.

This explains it then. I also find Azeri a bit diffucult to understand but when I listen them carefully I realize I can understand most of what they say. Despite this I also have an Azeri teacher that currently live in Turkey, yet he can speak Turkish like a Turk so far. I could never know that he was Azeri if he didn't tell it to me.
