October 1, 2011 - TAMPA, FL - The Occupy Wall Street movement may have just received an unexpected surprise – United States Army and Marine troops are reportedly on their way to various protest locations to support the movement and to protect the protesters.

Army serviceman Ward Reilly posted the following on Facebook:

“I'm heading up there tonight in my dress blues. So far, 15 of my fellow marine buddies are meeting me there, also in Uniform.

I want to send the following message to Wall St and Congress:

I didn't fight for Wall St. I fought for America. Now it's Congress' turn.

Good stuff, I hope its true.

Servicemen join to protect the US people, not banks and corporations who steal from them

What are the chances of a police-man macing a United States Marine Corp's member?

If the marines join, they will give serious credability to the protests.

The best case scenario is that the marines will be mainly respectable to the law and won't be as rowdy as the protestors. Perhaps thier presence will help keep things from exploding into violense not from scareing cops away but providing an example. The protestors will have to accept the marines with open arms, otherwise the marines will be separated and they will most likely go "This is bull" and go home.

Well he's wrong. Wall St. is part of America and American people's lives are being affected.

I'll be surprised if this even happens. Him and 15 of his buddies...I'll believe it when I see it.

In every generation there are a few, a very few, cranks and traitors in the service...It is why we have Marine brigs and federal penitentiaries.

Actually, I would expect something more like this....

Sounds like a drunken internet bluster.

He and his 15 Marine buddies will be out on their asses with dishonorable discharges if they attend this in uniform.

A marine in the world of civilians is another piece of crap. Bring your rifle and the police will shoot you down. Welcome to the world of losers that the USA military is not protecting, the inner cities.

Well, A lot of people were worried that the protests and uprisings around the world would eventually spread to the USA if Economic conditions remained poor.

Looks like that may happen sooner than later with this little coup d'état moving up tensions and class warfare. Given enough prodding the "peasants" (poor) will put the heads of "lords'" and "ladies'" (rich) on pikes. Scary stuff.

So will I! From what I understand, active-duty servicemen aren't allowed to make public political statements/protests or anything of that nature....

There is no such thing as an 'ex-Marine'. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

You ever wonder why the military is still overseas, despite Obama telling everyone he'd bring them back?

Much easier to take control of the government when the military is not on their own soil.

Nice bit of rhetoric but if an active duty Marine shows up to this protest in his dress blues he'll be joining the rolls of the unemployed.

I doubt that occurs though. It looks to me like a tidy bit of propaganda meant to gas supporters heads up, kind of like how Radiohead was supposed to put on a show for them last week...the only problem being that Radiohead had no intention of putting on any show and the whole thing took them by complete surprise. It's probably the same thing happening here. I doubt this mystery Marine actually exists.

If they are active duty then they could face a UCMJ hearing.

Once a Marine always a Marine. Those with dishonorable discharges would be classified as (*)(*)(*)(*)-bags in my book thou.

I have no problem with this. These Marines have the right to excercise their freedom of speech and right to assemble as any other protestor. As long as they remain peaceful, I don't see why there's a need to criticize them. The ethics of this matter make no difference to me.

If you have dishonored the Marine Corp you were never a marine in the first place, you can't be a little bit pregnant.
