That concert is not devilish enough. This one is better. You can clearly see the crowd under the influence of satan:p

"I went down to the crossroads." :)

I love the creativity in that whole 'soul selling' thing.

I watched a movie called crossroads that was pretty neat, had the whole Robert Johnson myth thing in it.

The movie based on the soul selling thing is a myth. I believe the 29 songs is true.

That Robert Jonson did have a 29th song ? Really ?

I always figured that was just a part of the movie to lead Ralph M. along, but I didn't know that there was any possible truth to it.

    Please do tell..

What about really subversive rock and roll -- death metal? Punk rock?

Apparently he 'stole' that story from Tommy Johnson. Marvellous marketing and a good source for comedy gold decades later. I strongly recommend "The Mighty Boosh" and its episode "Journey To The Centre Of Punk". A little taster: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixZkZt1WDIY&feature=player_detailpage"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixZkZt1WDIY&feature=player_detailpage[/ame]

I can't remember where I read this, but it was before the movie was released and before the internet. So there could be some truth in Robert Johnson writing 29 songs.

He was an interesting character. He did actually die of poisoning from a poisoned bottle of whiskey.

BTW,,I've been a blues fan for 40 or more years.

There is music whose beat, tone, lyrics, and loudness stimulate the coarser and more vulgar aspects of life and emotions ---Pride/wrath, sexual desire/lust, rage, covetnous/envy.

And then there is music which calms the soul, and more easily produces/stimulates faith, hope in a better life, and love of fellow man.
Most Hard Rock fits into the first group. Most Christian music into the second.

Interesting how our perception varies -- when I hear Christian music, my first instinct is to poke my own eyes out.
