Is quite simple. You request what you want; if the "Bossman" does not agree, he has the right to say no.

If you accept the idea of the stereotypical Republican being an astute business person who seeks to maximize profits, then of course they would detest overtime pay. Instead, they would ensure the job can be completed in a regular 40 hour workweek thus saving the company and the consumer money.

Those of you who choose to work salaried know that ahead of time when you are hired. It comes with the territory; Hourly workers on the other hand know that they will be paid by the hour; if they only work 24 hours per week, thats all they get paid for; Salaried workers are guaranteed a certain pay whether they work 15 hours in one week or 70 in one week. Its a trade off.

My problem is how they get it and not what they get. If they get the contracts by extortion, fraud, assault, murder, sabotage, or kidnapping then they should be prosecuted and not rewarded.

Why would how anyone liberal or conservative "feels" about overtime matter? It's a function of law.

Republicans hate anything that cuts into corporate profit. You guys better can the overtime talk pronto, or the big boys will make you salaried and double your working hours.

No, they wouldn't. Companies would hire fewer people and work them longer hours.

The answer is that Republicans hate overtime pay, because they are usually the ones paying it out. They probably would not mind so much, except that they know the Chinese laborer works twice as long for about 1/10th the average wage, so its the relativity factor that is causing everyone, employer and employee alike, a lot of anxiety.

Soon the machines and computers will be able to do virtually everything. The only reason that it is not more evident, is that so many Chinese and Indians work almost like machines, for almost as little cost as to run a machine.

Republicans didn't have a super majority, why didn't Clinton veto it?

What i don't get is the saying that it cuts in coorporate freedom, so does outlawing of Slavery and child labor laws. I think no one would argue that slavery is a good way to go.
the 150% on Overtime are a protection for workers against emplyoers just letting people work 60-80 hours weeks instead of hirering another worker.

And removing minimum Wage will not help at all. Just working does not feed you or provide housing, it's the pay you get that allows you to buy food. It doesn't make sense to let people work for < 1$/h. There is no way that worker can live from that wage. You can't compete with chinese wages when the cost of living in the US is way higher.
