^he (margot) gives you the official Wahhabi point of view on Mujahdeen/Taliban institution

" A pregnant Afghan woman was publicly executed this weekend after being flogged. The 35-year-old widow was accused of having an affair that resulted in her pregnancy. The man who allegedly partnered with her was not punished."

Do you see the black turban of one of the gunmen walking away? That is a member of the Taliban.

It is acts like this which caused over 300,000 Afghans to join with us to put down the insurgency. Acts like that do as much to alienate the local population as does our wayward bombs - if not more so.

Why do you think the Taliban were cleared out of Kandahar so quickly when we sent in reinforcements? The people are tired of these kinds of antics, and only side with them because no one has the ability to stand up to them.

    Well, we did.

    The Taliban is Deobandi...

Peter Tomsen is a retired American diplomat and educator, serving as United States Special Envoy to Afghanistan from 1989 to 1992, and United States Ambassador to Armenia between 1995 and 1998 WIKI

When you read Tomsen's CV, there is no indication that he EVER was in Saudi Arabia.

Yes, what do special envoys do?

Well, when my job title was company commander ... where did I serve and visit during that tenure?

Do you really think that Tomsen's travel dates and locations as a special envoy are listed in detail from his job titles? Read the book.

The Taliban are close enough to Saudi conservative religious officials that, even after numerous instances of injustice, etc., certain wealthy donors continue to fund them almost blindly.

Why don't you explain to the audience what the similarities and differences are between Whabbists and deobandi sects? I assure you, there is far more in common than there is different.

There would be no war, there are other parties involved in trying to create this situation. What Persians smarter than this or that, please the fact of the matter Iran wants to exert it's influence on Iraq and even hopes to attain it for it's Pan-Shia dream is a reality. From my experience the Persians often plan but always fail.

    Reaction to the Brits..

Just as Sikhs originated from Hinduism, but are not Hindus, and Protestants came from Roman Catholicism, but are not Catholics, similarly, the Deobandi sect originated in the Sunni community, but are not strictly Sunnis. The tack of Darul Uloom Deoband is in accordance with the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, Hanafiate practical method (Mazhab) and the disposition (Mashrab) of its holy founders, Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Qasim Nanautavi (Allah's mercy be on him!) and Hazrat Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi (may his secret be sanctified).

The Taliban, mostly, also follow Pashtunwali - many of whose traditions violate the tenets of Islam. However, deobandism and wahabbism are more akin to Anglican/Episcopal churches, which have far more in common than they have in difference.

It is enough that Saudi Wahabbists fund the Taliban. The fact that they are deobandi has almost nothing to do with it, as the ummah allows these slight differences to be avoided does it not?

    Indeed it was, and is.

Perhaps if Saudi leadership stood up and pintedly made these differences made, it might be worth pointing out. THere is a reason that Islamic leaders are silent on these things.
