TB - I would like to discuss Fethullah Gülen and his movement in greater detail in that thread. Fascinating - I've never heard of this guy, and I'm pretty well informed about Islamists and their movements. This guy sounds like he might be the Turkish version of Tariq Ramadan.

hello sorry for the late response, my essay went well.

To give a quick overview, i discussed the eagerness of US government to go into a nation that has been quite unstable from many years of sectarian violence. The toppling of Saddam, though at that time looked like a viable solution, has only made things worse. You now have a Shi'a gov in Iraq, the first of its kind, SUnni majority in the region is unwilling to give up power, thus more extremist are born everyday. To make matters worse you have new Shi'a factions being created as there is a power struggle among these groups.
