For nearly a century she was denied a voice by a culture of silence. Finally, at the age of 107, Viola Fletcher got a national stage on Wednesday to bear witness to America’s deep history of racial violence.

Fletcher is the oldest living survivor of a massacre that took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on 31 May and 1 June 1921 when a white mob attacked the city’s “Black Wall Street”, killing an estimated 300 African Americans while robbing and burning more than 1,200 businesses, homes and churches.

We hear daily about BLM and last summer's riots. What we don't hear about is the Tulsa Massacre. It's good that this amazing woman may finally be getting some justice. I'm just in awe of her at 107 years old.

Democrats really did hate Blacks back then, they did all sorts of terrible crap. Thankfully for Blacks, they had the party of Abolition to fight back.

It's sad how many people can justify hatred. Many Republicans love to shout out that Democrats are racists and hateful but completely overlook the fact that those policies were transitioned to their party decades ago. It's more than just a "label" but the majority just refuse to be honest with themselves.

 

The DP has always been the party of systemic institutional racism in America. Most ordinary Democrats are unaware of the many racist crimes perpetrated by DP politicians.

 

Ignorance of history can be ignored. It's not about party, anyway. It's about the Tulsa black community enjoying the successes possible in this country, only to have it destroyed with violence by an angry white mob of envious losers.

The woman is a treasure. She was 7 when it happened and still has flashbacks. Sad.

It’s so very strange all the union soldiers moved south to places like Alabama and Mississippi and decided to start displaying the rebel flag as a part of their heritage.

 

So funny how some want revisionist history because they know the truth won't set them free, but make them feel bad knowing which side they really belong to.

The massacre occurred in 1921. Look at the chart in the link and tell me what political party held sway at that time.

A black man was accused of raping a white woman. A group of 200 or so whites gathered outside the courthouse. A group of 50 blacks show up, some of whom are armed. When someone tries to disarm them, the black man shoots the white man.

Kicking off a battle royale which resulted in said “massacre”.

Like I said the last time this was brought up... did they take it too far? Absolutely but that’s what happens when you defend a rapist and then shoot someone over it. Emotions tend to run high.

I’ll give you mine: Time and the old racist Democrats dying out. The south was ran by Democrats until the 80’s, 90’s and in one case this century(Georgia). A vote for President doesn’t make a state red or blue, who runs the state does. And who ran them? Democrats.

“The massacre began during the Memorial Dayweekend after 19-year-old Dick Rowland, a Black shoeshiner, was accused of assaulting Sarah Page, the 17-year-old white elevator operator of the nearby Drexel Building. He was taken into custody. After the arrest, rumors spread through the city that Rowland was to be lynched. Upon hearing reports that a mob of hundreds of white men had gathered around the jail where Rowland was being kept, a group of 75 Black men, some of whom were armed, arrived at the jail to ensure that Rowland would not be lynched. The sheriff persuaded the group to leave the jail, assuring them that he had the situation under control. As the group was leaving the premises, complying with the sheriff's request, a member of the mob of white men allegedly attempted to disarm one of the Black men. A shot was fired, and then according to the reports of the sheriff, "all hell broke loose." At the end of the firefight, 12 people were killed: 10 white and 2 Black. As news of these deaths spread throughout the city, mob violence exploded.[2] White rioters rampaged through the Black neighborhood that night and morning killing men and burning and looting stores and homes. Around noon on June 1, the Oklahoma National Guard imposed martial law, effectively ending the massacre.”

Sounds pretty accurate to me.

 

In the aftermath its determined that the 'rape' allegation is because he stepped on the woman's shoe while entering the elevator and she screamed. That's not a ****ing rape. The paper called for a LYNCHING IMMEDIATLEY ffs.

Not to mention: The mob had no law enforcement powers to show up for anyone or disarm anyone nor were the Blacks who were armed breaking the law by being armed.

 

Sounds to me like the black fellas bit off more than they could chew when they were defending their little rapist buddy and it resulted in them and their whole community getting dealt with.
