Actually, this idea isn't all that unusual among radical circles. Most radicals who are critical of the marxist-leninist states of the 20th century share my view of work.

Though, you're probably not sure what a world without work would look like. I'll try to clear it up with a more specific criticism, this one quoted from Marx in The German Ideology,

Work isn't the mere labor you perform, it's the prescribed role and separation from the product of your labor that comes with it. In capitalism, most never see the product of their labor and feel no connection or pride to it, we are alienated from our own labor. This creates a general sense of working for nothing in the popular consciousness that explains a good number of phenomena.

Yeah we should pay hair-feather artists as much as astronauts.

I just shook my head and realized nothing I would or could say would have any impact there once I read that.

Ah the "radical circles". People who can't function in society and either live in their parents basement or subsist on section 8 housing.

They do so because they have no real skills, and don't want to develop skills because they feel, in their victimhood, that they are entitled to as much of the pie as a guy who worked 3 jobs to put himself through college and do something with his life.

I did enjoy your quote from Marx though. Let me sum up what he's talking about for you: embracing mediocrity and being good at nothing, while thinking that everything being done is somehow equivalent to people who are good at something.

You're not wrong in your assessment that it's the same response.

It's the same response because it's correct, which is why you keep hearing it.

Do you get bored when you ask if the sun is hot and everyone says "yeah"?

Every one of your arguments can be boiled down to one simple truth: you don't want to work hard, but you think whatever you decide to do should reward you as much as the people who actually do put in the effort.

That's the reason your idea is "radical", and that's the reason that the people you probably hang out with are losers.

If they said for property value NOBODY would care but they didn't... they made it about racism.

Ha ha ha .. OMG  :D

I forgot, you're the guy who thinks communism looks like Portland, Oregon.

News Flash. It doesn't. It looks like a bunch of people all wearing the same utilitarian clothes (wouldn't want inequality of threads!), working 10 hours days pulling weeds from the tomato beds and cleaning toilets. No one gets to be a poet, or 'pursue passions', because we have to eat.

I recommend you grow up, get out more, and stop speaking for your brown pets.

the ussr was just capitalism without the pretensions. capitalism is ultimately a totalitarian system, with or without a welfare state. anywhere wage labor exists, there is no freedom.

Only the conservatives here are making that claim. There's no such claim made by anyone in your link.

So, why did you fake a claim about someone saying trees are racist?

And why are all the other conservatives agreeing with your fake claim?

The lesson we take from this thread is that conservatives make stories up and toss race cards at every opportunity.

Practicing yoga is racism some say:

"Whenever I see someone who’s cultural heritage does not descend from the sub-continent of India practicing yoga, I want to scream out at them for their theft of an ancient, sacred practice. The way Westerners have reduced yoga to a trendy form of exercise is just another example of how colonialism continues to plague us. Yoga is a centuries old tradition of mindfulness, with physical practice only one part of the system. Unless you grew up Indian, learning these ancient traditions of your own people, using the sacred objects in their intended manner, you should not be allowed to practice “yoga” as trendy yuppie moms call it."

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/matthew-terrell/white-people-should-be-ba_b_10231840.html

    https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/07/why-your-yoga-class-is-so-white/374002/

I'm not into yoga, never been in a yoga studio, but I don't think the practitioners are racist. Why did all those Hindu yogi's wonder all over the USA in the 1960's selling their wares if they didn't want Americans to do the same stuff that they do? Somehow I guess a lot of blacks just didn't like doing yoga all that much, although I have no doubt they could excel at it, same as they do in ballet and opera, if they are moved by those things. Maybe there's just not enough rhythm in yoga to make it attractive.

But it is absolutely true that the poorer you're born the harder it's going to be to dig out.

And if you're born poor in a ghetto that is going to make it even harder.

Life ain't fair; never has been, never will be. And usually you can't go very far from where you are with a chip on your shoulder.

I read the OP. I read the link. Nowhere in that link was there anyone involved saying that trees are racist.

You made up a fake story. Or, more correctly, you just mindlessly parroted a faked headline about "racist trees".

Again, you can prove me wrong. Just quote someone involved saying the trees are racist.

Many longtime residents of the neighborhood previously told the (Palm Springs, Calif.) Desert Sun they believed the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s, and remained a lasting remnant of the history of segregation in the city. Residents said the invasive tamarisks, which block views of the Tahquitz Creek Golf Course and San Jacinto mountains, have artificially depressed property values and prevented black families from accumulating wealth in their property over the past half century.

Roberts apologized to the Crossley Tract residents for any wrongdoing by the city in the past and said he and the rest of the council wanted to make the necessary changes to ensure future generations didn’t have to deal with the same problems current and past residents faced.

Anything else you'd like me to help you read?
