Let's put this thing in perspective.

When it comes to measuring death, it's not just a simple process of counting corpses. It's also a matter of the loss of potential life lived.

If you look at the Spanish Flu of 1918, it was so horrific, it was killing kids, lots of kids, and it was taking down people in the peak of health and the prime of life. It was actually using healthy people's strong immune systems against them like a judo throw.

The Spanish Flu was such a bastard, it slashed the life expectancy of Americans by OVER 10 YEARS IN JUST ONE YEAR.

    Look at the impact-

    noLr1g8.png

Try and wrap your head around that.

The Spanish Flu was a bloodthirsty ax murderer that went berserk and indiscriminately hacked its way through humanity like a reaper's scythe. By comparison, COVID looks more like an angel of mercy that shows up in the nursing home, and ends the suffering of end-stage geriatrics a few months early.

The Spanish Flu wiped out so much potential life and living, it chopped more than a decade off the life expectancy of an American.

The Chinese Flu from China on the other hand, will maybe shave about 10 days off the American life clock.

And yet there was an "expert", a "scientist" nonetheless, who told us that COVID is going to be even WORSE than the Spanish Flu, and he wasn't laughed off the planet. People actually took his nonsense seriously.

Where, in rural America, do you see healthcare capacity being strained?

Right at this moment, I'm in a hospital in the Midwest that has over a hundred ICU beds available, and we currently have 2 COVID patients admitted.

Yes, you are mistaken. In a big way. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

If you need simple proof.....tell me where UK is on your list? Is it your claim that they have a better death rate per capita than does the United States which is what was indicated in your OP ?

With the worldometer data, you can easily manipulate to search anything you are seeking. Go to the deaths per capita column and double click. It gives a stack ranking. The United States is 12, and the only western economic powers that are below the United States are Germany and Canada if we want to go so far as to call Canada a western economic power.

If you need to compare Covid-19 to the single worst pandemic of the last 150 years in order to make your point that Covid-19 is not that serious, then you are up ****'s creek without a paddle.

Yes, just as I asserted. His numbers are WAY off. He had claimed that the United States had a higher per capita death rate than the UK, and he also said the US had 44 per 100k. Thank you.

Everyone dies eventually, so no cause of death ever matters . . . riiiiiiiiiight.

Good to know the Trumpists are finally resorting to that nonsense.

    Thanks.

I didn't want to spend any energy explaining the graph to him.

LOL....his graph proved you wrong while simultaneously proving my point precisely. You are thanking him for exposing your error and proving my point.

Looks like the virus that repeatedly called the "Jussie Smollett of viruses" has killed more than 100,000 Americans.

To be clear, I am fairly certain that his reference to the 44/100,000 was supposed to be based on the final projection (which has since been reduced by a small amount since he made his post).

But yes, he is wrong about the US being the 6th worst worldwide. But leading the world in terms of total deaths by a significant margin doesn't really sound very good at all.

I politely told him that he was mistaken with his numbers and he responded with condescension. You and I are in agreement. He is mistaken. He really isnt even in the ballpark. Your illustration with the UK was a perfect example. Thank you.

His statement was "U.S has the 6th worst per capita record ". The use of the word record by definition means in the past, which makes his use of the projection that much more off base. Not only did he use the wrong number for the projection if he were going to use a projection, he should have never used a projection in the first place when calling it the record. With projections or just with historical data, his stack rankings were off in a big way. Basically, his entire summation was about as misleading as it gets. I am glad that we could expose the highly misleading nature of his numbers, and set the record straight.

    More LW Death Porn. :bored:

    FYI:

Coronavirus death toll is heavily concentrated in Democratic congressional districts

By the way, I noticed that your source doesn't include China and Iran...

Since Democratic voters want to die AND burn the economy to the ground, I'd say our greatest challenge is keeping them contained in their Wu Flu infested shitholes where they can get what they want: Death and Poverty. ;-)

Did you know that blue states, including new york, are much more likely to be net contributors to the federal government than the red states?

You do recall that you believed this virus would never reach the levels seen by South Korea and China, right?
