Car crashes? (Irrelevant.) For the rest, there would be far MORE deaths than we're seeing if the COVID Hoax weren't a hoax - the oldest Boomers are turning 75 next year.

    Yes. Yes.

    From your link:
I know I'm a bit weak on the math, just being a Financial Controller and all, but the numbers don't work. If they title it one thing, and their very own words make the title false, what is the chance the rest of the article/opinion being correct?

Since the majority of those dying have comorbidities, attempting to claim that they had X more years to live (or lost to the virus) means they would be able to forecast the speed of decline for someone who had a heart issue. Funny that, if they can do that, people wouldn't be dying of heart issues, now would they.

A personal anecdote, FWIW, my BIL tested positive, no symptoms. The test was for returning to work. My SIL, tested negative. They've been cooped up in the same house together since mid March. Makes one question the veracity of those tests, eh?

That isn't an explanation of how "the numbers don't work." Also you are taking a slight issue with the choice of the title, but the title isn't false. The study does conclude that covid-19 victims, specifically the males, are losing an average of 13 years from their life.

They will still die, but those estimates do make it much more likely that people with heart issues will get substantial medical intervention that prolongs their life or makes it less likely that they die from heart disease.

We can estimate how long someone with a specific heart condition will live based on historical data from tens of thousands of cases where someone had that condition and similarly situated co-morbidities, but knowing how long they have to live on average does not suddenly mean that those folks will not die from heart issues. If I tell you that you have five years until your heart gives out, your heart is still going to give out in five years. So, absent a heart transplant or a device that stimulates the heart, you are still going to die when your heart gives out.

But if you want to read about a more in-depth analysis of the assumption that the people who are dying and whether they have co-morbidities above and beyond the typical individual for that age range, see post #64.

Two issues there. Yes, the tests are not wholly accurate. Somewhere around 70% is the estimate that I continue to see so yes, it is entirely possible that your BIL was not actually sick or that your SIL was also sick. Secondly, we know that there are some strange behaviors to this virus in terms of how it spreads. Some people can act as super-spreaders and go to a single church event and infect dozens of other people after an hour. Some people can live in the same home for weeks on end and never spread the virus to their family members living in that same home.

Just be thankful that your brother had no symptoms and that your sister did not get sick either.

To paraphrase Bill Gates our lust for freedom bites us in the ass with covid. We as a whole refuse to let it alter our lives. Long run this could work to our advantage though as Sweden is proving.

Overreaction to it is the hoax. CDC just confirmed a 0.2% death rate for COVID-19

The title of the article doesn't say Males, it says AVERAGE. 13 and 11, last I looked, do not AVERAGE 13. So, a basic false and misleading title.

They also make an assumption, I repeat, of lifespan with underlying comorbidities. In specific, Diabetes and heart issues.

To assume a person with underlying health issues would continue on the same levels of health with no decline or additional issues is like throw a dart at a dartboard with a blindfold on. I am a representative of the group that had one health issue, and have developed additional health issues. With each additional issue, my life span reduces. To claim to know a time length when there are many underlying and specific factors to any one individual is virtually impossible.

As Bill Gates observed, other nations had better responses to the pandemic than did the United States. Thus, its current plight.

The conspicuous failure of the U.S. to confront the pandemic is attributable to a lack of leadership and a refusal to respect the advise of public health experts - both by ignorant politicians with a personal agenda and the irrational behavior of some members of the public without a sense of social responsibility.

The inescapable reality that 5,571,840 Americans have now been infected and 173,979 have died stands as a stark rebuke to fatuous declarations that it was "under control!", there were "very few" people with it, and "They're all getting better!" because it will just "go away!"

Of the 10 countries currently recording the highest daily increases, the United States is the only high-income country

WASHINGTON, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The number of deaths caused by COVID-19 in the United States since July is six times the average rate in other high-income economies, a U.S. news website said last week.

Among the 83 countries and regions included in World Bank's list of "high-income economies," the United States is "one of very few" that have failed to control the virus since the pandemic, according to a report by AXIOS.

Since July 1, 75 percent of all new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 69 percent of all deaths recorded in the rich world occurred in the United States, which accounts for 27 percent of the group's population, it said...

So far, America suffers the second highest spike in daily new cases in the world, only behind India. Of the 10 countries currently recording the highest daily increases, the United States is the only high-income country, it added.

It bears repeating that for the most part, covid kills people with underlying illnesses, thus hastening the demise of those already compromised or doomed. And a significant portion of those illnesses are the result of obesity. The woman at the televised Democrat convention who blamed the President for her Fathers death, said that her Dad was healthy. He was not. He was obese, possibly morbidly obese, judging from photos. Likewise many in her family. It is also as likely that he caught it from someone who caught it from someone and so on, who listened to Democrats counsel early in the pandemic, and mingled, ignoring the Presidents efforts in January and February to hold back the virus. Who knows...there are no guarantees.

It is not, but here is the discussion on comorbidities.

In regards to the theory around co-morbidities, there is something to the possibility that the individuals who get and die from Covid-19 have co-morbidities in numbers that are substantially different from the averages for those age groups.

I found a comment from one of the authors who responded to that criticism. He essentially said that you can either approach it one of two ways - refuse to adjust your results because you have no current data to suggest that victims of Covid-19 have co-morbidities that are substantially different from the general population for that age group or calculate the loss of life based on the assumption that those individuals do have 2x or 3x the rate of co-morbidities than the average population for that age group.

He then linked to another researcher that pursued that secondary path and that researcher went even further to try and address the theory that "years of life" is not really the same thing as "quality years of life."

So, for example, if you lived for three more years, but you were in a vegetative state or had a severe paralysis for the entirety of that time, you really did not have any more quality years of life.

His conclusion (and I'll see if I can find the link again), was essentially that if you used the most restrictive definition for quality of life AND you assumed that the victims of Covid-19 had co-morbidities at roughly 3x the rate of the general population, then Covid-19 still deprived an average of three years from the deceased.

It's a cogent reality that your passionate love of Trump prevents you from acknowledging.

    Documented, relevant fact:

5,571,840 Americans infected, 173,979 dead vs false assertions that it was "under control!", there were "very few" people with it, and "They're all getting better!" because it will just "go away!"

Your excuses and attempts at diversion appear pathetic, especially given the documented disinformation persistently spewed by your inamorata that is so overwhelmingly contradicted by the ensuing devastation and current plight:
