We have reached a tragic new milestone. 400,000 deaths. If we keep going the same way, we'll get half a million deaths in one month. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/19/health/us-coronavirus-tuesday/index.html So, what is going to convince conservatives that it is not just like the flu? How many deaths will it take? Second, "just like the flu" was only one of the many issue Trump and his troops were wrong about covid. It would go away in spring, it would disappear after the election, doctors exaggerate covid deaths to make Trump look bad, HCQ work..... and the list goes on and on. Thank goodness these people don't set public health policy anymore through their leader for the next few years.
Cons are a selfish lot. Their minds won’t change until they’re directly impacted. Even then it’s only a 50/50 shot.
My family is part of that stat. Just lost a second relative to COVID yesterday. I didn't need to see it up close and personal to know the devastation it's causing in the country and around the world.
Sorry for your losses. It's sad that some people have had to see it up close and personal to change their ignorant view of COVID. The people who think it's no big deal are self-centered a holes.
And it is not so hard to do your part. I REALLY like to go out for dinner with my family, sort of has been our Sunday afternoon tradition. Guess what, these days we just eat at home. It's a small sacrifice to make to keep us and others safe. I realize that it sucks for waiters/restaurant owners, that's why those people need to get help from the government. We try to support them by getting carry out food. Second, don't even get me started on the mask wearing issue..
Yes "Covid" death was high, but we have eliminated 400,000 deaths from flu, heart disease, cancer, lung disease, and car accidents.
Thank you. Thank you. Exactly. It doesn't take *much* to do something that will help. I honestly didn't realize there were so many selfish people in the world. That may sound naive but I remember when neighbors looked out for one another, people cared about their communities and worked for the greater good. It's heart-breaking to hear and see so much self-centeredness.
Biden will honor the covid victims tonight: https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/19/politics/biden-covid-victims-memorial/index.html It's about time that we have a president who will talk about the victims, instead of only focusing on his re-election success.
Wuhan Novel Corona of 2019 is very real. I myself have lost a close friend -- admittedly not in the best of health, but a wonderful human being no longer with us. First, I agree that Trump did a horrible job handling the pandemic. Second, based on objective measures of infection rates across the country, I doubt anyone else woud have done much better -- aside from the empathy Trump clearly lacks. That said, I think it is worth looking very carefully at the data, particularly wrt "died from WNC19" v "died with WNC19." I read a study also that compared the regular mortality rate of certain age groups and it concluded that WNC19 did not disproportionately effect the very old compared to actuarial data from previous years. IOW, those folks are going to die this year anyway just because of "old age." I'm sure you'll want to read it -- I'll try to dig it up for you if it hasn't been vaporized by the net nannies. I do recall it came out of Johns Hopkins. Just some things worth considering.
today is the first time we acknowledge all those deaths from the federal level in an empathetic way, how I miss that, nice to have people with empathy in power again sadly it's not over either, it's spreading so fast now that it will probably break a million before it's all over
Why not ask the Democrats who put covid patients into nursing homes why they did that? They must think it's not all that bad... Many deaths have been falsified. I know few people who have had it and only 1 died because the hospital refused to see him.
