Americans are at a grave disadvantage when it comes to politics and the world. They are at the mercy of their government.

The U.S. has the worst censorship of any Western nation and because of their geographic isolation and extreme substandard level of education, their censorship and propaganda is very effective in keeping the population dumbed-down.

But their system of controlling ignorance cannot work here in Europe. If I board a bus or train I can be in another country within 20 minutes. Within a couple of hours, I can be in 3 different countries. Within about an hour of flying time, I can be in one of at least a dozen other countries, each with its own customs, language, and political philosophy. And when you consider that we all speak at least two foreign languages you can see that our government cannot lie about the outside world and get away with it.

To be more specific (and on your subject) we know both the successes and the failures of Communism and the USSR whereas the Americans know doodly squat.

Trying to keep things in perspective, Kennedy ran some rum during prohibition. He was a smuggler taking advantage of prohibition.

Bush's crimes were real crimes with real victims. Wars under fraud is the Bush specialty.

There is a different moral quality between a smuggler and a war criminal.

And he may be the only american, alive in Nov. 1963 who had no idea where he was, when JFK was murdered. At least, I have heard this is what he said when asked. But is it actually fact? I dunno. Hard to believe that he didn't remember where he was at that time, right? So perhaps it is just a myth. I would like to see the evidence that he actually claimed such nonsense.

I am not at all sure about this man. But, I do give him praise for serving in ww2, in combat, as a pilot, against the japanese. He put his arse on the line. Gotta admire that.

So you didn't feel the same way about Joe Kennedy's illegal activities that made the Kennedy's a fortune which they used to become a "legitimate" political family? President Kennedy played a role in putting the US military into Vietnam.

Exactly. A fact that few seem to realize plus he was the cause of the Cuba missile crisis. So about the hip-hip-hurrah for JFK I quote William Shakspeare in ‘The Tragedy of Julius Caesar’ > > > "Wherefor rejoice?"

John Kennedy had every chance to be a hero, but he wasn't.

I would say it was President Eisenhower's nuclear weapons expansion that created the Cuban Missile Crisis. At the end of his presidency he admitted he was at fault for the expansion of the Military Industrial Complex.

Kennedy made a big thing about Khrushchev's missiles on Cuba while Kennedy himself had missiles in Turkey. By Kennedy giving Castro a raw deal, it opened the way for Kruscvhev to even the score with missiles of his own.

Eisenhower warned of the Military-Industrial Complex - he didn't admit creating it.

And this family could have been in on the intended coup against FDR that Gen. Butler busted out when they approached him to raise a 500,000 man army to take FDR down. We were never told who the fascist conspirators were, but they were rich elites. If a common man, or common men would have tried to stage this coup, we would all know their names and about their executions.

I have not liked Bush since he oversaw the beginning of the destruction of working and middle class americans, with NAFTA. In the self interest of big banks and big corporations and the elites that own them. And the dismantling of the FDR economy and banking regs.

As I said though, I did respect the young Bush who put his arse on the line as a pilot fighting the japs in ww2. I think HWB was the last of the powerful Bush family though.

Anyways, I do wish condolences to the Bush family. He was loved by them, no matter what kind of politician he was. Elites are not exempt from sympathy. But I will not rave about how great the man was, for I think he is responsible for great suffering upon middle class and working america, as well as giving away some sovereignty to big banks and corporations.

Eisenhower warned of the MIC after he left office. But while he was president he was instrumental in expanding it.

That’s rather interesting. I knew your uncle while I was working for the government (in a capacity that I am not at liberty to divulge) and he said he respected me more than any man he ever met. But this was after Geo. Bush left ... so that makes sense.

I had a high-level security clearance which renders me unable (by oath) to disclose such information even after my ETS. I am surprised that you do not already know that.

Ps. Even forum rules forbid passing on personal information.

Somewhere I have seen a picture of Bush on that day, but I cannot remember where he was.

Yes, and President Kennedy was executed by the CIA and the Dulles brothers because he wanted to throw the Agency to the Four Winds. And of course he was talking about doing away with the Fed, and that made certain Israelis very nervous.

Executed by the CIA? Is that your conspiracy theory?

There isn't anything technically incorrect in what you say. The Bush family isn't any cleaner than any other old money family.

But 41 could have opted to go to any number of Ivy League schools and avoided WWII altogether. Not only did he volunteer but he turned into the youngest fighter pilot to date and saw plenty of action where the metal hits the meat. He is a bonafide war hero who served his country with distinction.

Life, people, and politics are complex. He made some very difficult decisions as President and made mistakes, yes.

That said, he was a decent man and an American Patriot, regardless of his family history or the fact that his son (43) was a twit.
