A homeowner shot three suspects during an attempted home invasion in Theodore on Thursday afternoon, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives said a 62-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran shot the suspects as they were trying to get into his home on Thomas Road. According to authorities, the suspects have broken into the man's home before and threatened to harm the victim if he reported the incident to authorities.

The homeowner did report the first incident. When the suspects returned to the residence Thursday, they fired several rounds through the front door. The victim was hit in the shoulder. Authorities said the victim returned fire, injuring all three suspects.

Investigators said two of the suspects drove away from the victim's home to a Dollar General Store at 10800 Dauphin Island Parkway. Deputies arrived at the store to find the two suspects on the ground.

Must not have had his glasses on -- else, I suspect the three lowlifes would be dead.

It sounds like the whole gunfight was through the front door. (blind)

Shooting all 3 sounds like some good shooting.

Better if they had all died.

I wonder what he had in his home that this was the second time time they hit it? How dumb can you get?

Edit: "MCSO detectives said the suspects had broken into the man's home two weeks earlier and took all of his medications."

    Ah, I see, drugs.

    I don't get this thread.

Is the premise guns are good because four people have been shot trying to settle a dispute.

Wouldnt there **** be better worked out over a game of ping pong?

Three lazy lowlife druggies who wanted to kill an old man and steal more of his drugs are for now licking their wounds and in custody.

As for me and my house, if someone had the gall to open fire on my house unprovoked, I'd keep firing until the assassins stopped moving.

Maybe you missed all the claims by gun control advocates that people don't actually use guns to fend off criminal attacks. This case clearly disproves that fallacy.

Obviously, people are using guns to defend themselves.

People will use whatever resources available when going in attack mode or defence mode.

I am just glad my society and culture generally doesnt settle disputes through guns.

Using a firearm to protect yourself or another against death or great bodily harm is not an example of settling disputes.

I am sorry mate, but someone wanting to take something of yours by force, and you not wanting them too is a dispute.

And in a lot of places around the world this same dispute is settled without gun shot wounds.

Pray tell how are such matters settled in various places around the world? If someone is forcefully trying to enter your home in order to take your property by force, how is such resolved in a matter that would be deemed acceptable? Who does the law favor in such instances?

    Many ways
    - from being tackled to the ground
    - running away
    - hit over the back of the head with a saucepan
    etc etc

Then if they are caught like in america they get sent to jail, all without a bullet being fired.

In australia, the home invader doesnt have a gun as well.

Thats how we do things here, we will do it ours, you will do it yours.
