6th Circuit Reaches Conclusion on ‘Preferred Pronouns'

    I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything on this case and I apologize if someone has.

    Anyhow, here's another case concerning freedom of thought and speech on America's campuses. Do professors have to follow Woke speech codes?

    For now, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled no.

    Here's the case and ruling:


    I see a lot of thorny and complicated issues here and it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I won't be surprised in the least if this case winds up on the Supreme Court's doorstep.

    The 6th at one time would have ruled the opposite. I am pleased they finally follow law.

    You can't force people to address you in any specific manner. What is scary is that this made it to court in the first place.

    How is it a stupid decision? A mentally ill person can not force someone else to call them a specific pronoun. That is a direct violation of the constitution. The court had no choice but to rule as they did, as the constitution precludes you from forcing me to call you anything other than what I want to call you.

    They changed the name of the mental disorder.

    reality remains. If you believe you are something you are not, you are by definition mentally ill.

    They said it was no longer a mental illness. Keep up with what the DSM says. A trans person is the gender they say they are.

    It’s sad that you’d even need to force anyone. I’ll call people by whatever pronouns they want. Really who gives a damn? Don’t be a dick.
    I get the men in women’s locker rooms or sports arguments. I don’t get this one. Play along, be nice. Who’s it hurt?

    no they didn’t. They renamed it.

    The DSM says otherwise. So does biology.

    They had to remain it because... it was no longer considered a disorder. The DSM is a medical guide. Disorder means something. Gender dysphoria isn’t a disorder. And biology says trans people exist. Not my fault if science isn’t your strong points in your argument

    It is classified in the DSM as a mental disorder lol.
    The DSM says it is a disorder.

    biology says a man who thinks he is a woman, remains a man. No matter what body parts he cuts off, or how many hormones he takes. He remains a man. That is science. And reality. All of which directly refuted your position.

    Dysphoria isn’t a mental disorder lol, do you not know what dysphoria is?

    Then there are no male birds. What gender are they? Or the countless other genotypes out there? Or maybe your understanding of science is incredibly lacking.

    uh, of course there are.
    You are either a male, or female, barring extremely rare genetic abnormalities. You can not like that all you want but reality does not give a ****. If you are born a male; you remain a male until you die. No matter how many hormones you take or body parts you cut off.

    Lol nope. Dysphoria is simply a feeling about your body and mental state. You can feel dysphoric about your weight for example which compels you to lose weight. Perfectly healthy, no disorder. Same thing with gender.


    How? They don’t have male genes. They don’t have XY genes. They have ZY genes.

    Until you’re not because you’re a fictional character who we talk about as if they have those or don’t have those. How is Woody from Toy Story a guy?

    Yeah I think they’re pretty natural. Trans people are completely normal.
