71 Arrested In Cleveland Protests In Cop's Acquittal In Deaths Of Unarmed Black Motorists AP | By Mark Gillispie | Posted: 05/24/2015 12:28 pm EDT Excerpts: CLEVELAND (AP)-"The streets returned to calm Sunday after police arrested dozens of demonstrators overnight when protests grew increasingly aggressive in the wake of a patrolman's acquittal in the deaths of two unarmed black suspects. In total, 71 people were arrested, including several who turned their anger toward bystanders in downtown Cleveland, Police Chief Calvin Williams said." "Someone picked up a restaurant sign and hit a patron in the head, and other protesters used pepper spray on passers-by and restaurant patrons sitting at outdoor cafes. But Mayor Frank Jackson thanked the vast majority of protesters who remained peaceful and respectful as they voiced their frustration with Saturday's verdict." ...... "Officer Michael Brelo, 31, faces administrative charges while remaining suspended without pay after he was found not guilty on two counts of voluntary manslaughter, but he no longer faces the prospect of prison. The anxious city now awaits a decision on criminal charges against a white officer in the fatal shooting of a black 12-year-old boy with a pellet gun." "Brelo and 12 other officers fired 137 shots at a car with Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams inside it on Nov. 29, 2012. The shooting occurred at the end of a 22-mile chase involving more than 100 Cleveland police officers and 60 cruisers after Russell's Chevy Malibu backfired while speeding past police headquarters. During the chase, an officer reported that he thought he'd seen Williams with a gun. At the end, police mistook police gunfire for shots from Russell's car." read more: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/05/24/michael-brelo-protest-arrests-cleveland_n_7431584.html ....... IMO: Now that Brelo no longer faces any time in prison for his part in the long chase of two unarmed black citizens, in an old beat-up Chevy Malibu, in which the final grand finale included Brelo standing on the hood of that Chevy pumping 15 shots into the interior of the car. It shows beyond a doubt that justice still cannot be accomplished even with 100 police chasing 2 unarmed black citizens, the chase quickly becomes a "hunt" with a predictable outcome for the 2 unarmed blacks in the beat-up Chevy. We have quickly become a bastard generation of war-polluted killers with no sense of personal justice, conscience, or retribution for the things we do. When a policeman makes an arrest, everything becomes classified as to the potential worth of the person's life, and what happens next is motivated by that instant decision we make, as we reach for our guns to kill. Many of us are walking through life without knowing a time when our country was at peace, so many of us work at making ourselves warlike, able to kill without having to pay any potential consequences. The best way to achieve this emotional release is to join the police corp and work the 'ghetto' area where you can make instant decisions, a "kill," without suffering any consequences. America has become a warring nation where quality of life has been drowned out by the gunshots of policemen out on another "hunt." What we see today is nothing but a fading replica of what life in a Democracy under a Constitution is supposed to be. It is the 'haves' against the 'have-nots'....when will this insanity stop, or are we destined to go tumbling down the road to the bottom?
