Nah...just the mere expectation that when 'you' ask us to scratch the back of the US...we ought not have to ask the US to scratch ours.

It depends on what is going on and the president's schedule at that particular moment. We don't know the whole story. We don't know if they are going to schedule a meeting later. We just know that someone is butthurt. Someone always gets butthurt at these things. Things move fast in these summits. I was involved at the ground floor level at the Summit of 8 in Denver. They had me drive the minister of finance for Russia to the hotel where Blair was staying without security. It was a spur of the moment meeting. The told me to get him over to the hotel fast. He got in with two Spetsnaz security members. We weren't supposed to move him without a full security escort. I blew through every red light I ran into. The first morning the Germans were supposed to be first in the stack of motorcades. They showed up 15 minutes late just because they thought it would be funny. The next day the French were supposed to be first in the stack but they were pissed the that the Germans were late the day before so they showed up 30 minutes late. It was a whole week of idiotic third grade crap. The ones that I really admired were the Japanese. They abstained from the daily parade of motorcades and rented tour buses. They had three Geishas on each bus. They said screw it and partied the whole time. Yeltsin had his people close off the two floors they had in their hotel and they got blasted. The next day Yeltsin threw up on the Prime Minister of Japan during dinner at The Fort restaurant. The Russian motorcade cars were parked behind all the other cars in the parking lot. We couldn't move them out because of the other vehicles from the other motorcades were parked blocking them in.We moved him with a small security detail from the Fort through Denver with four of his security detail and four Denver Police cars at 120 MPH back to his hotel. They thought he might die on US soil. He wouldn't let an American doctor look at him. They locked down their two floors and called all their delegates in. He had just had a heart bypass and was rip roaring drunk the night before. You will never see any of that in the news. The news said that Yeltsin "felt ill" so he called it a night and missed the show at the Stock Show grounds that were planned for all of the delegates of the Summit for the night. Now they have 20 countries involved. That more than doubles the amount of work that needs to be done than is used to be.

It seems Leftists are complaining that they don't get enough attention, that Trump is not getting any attention, or getting too much, and with continuing variations on that familiar theme.

The results of these meetings have become less important than the visual dynamics which, of course, can change by the moment and will be interpreted according to the viewers politics.

Trump was odds on to lose in 2016. Ridiculous that someone thinks they can make that type of prediction without knowing who he is running against.

I'm leaving him with a shot at it given the Democrats may yet shoot themselves in the foot--like they did by nominating Useless Hillary.

Trump is thoroughly disliked by about 60% of Americans. He earned it.

I don't think "thoroughly" quite describes the situation you are talking about but it you want to use overly dramatic adjectives to make yourself feel better then more power to you. Again, you are falling back on data that doesn't apply to the situation to reinforce your day dream. Approval ratings aren't a necessary indicator when it comes to elections but hey, go with it.

Very true. Not to mention that most Trump supporters are hypocrites.

I have family all over the world, including Europe, Australia and Canada, and I have seen zero resentment of America. Disagreement with a policy isn't resentment. What there is, even among my family who are die-hard conservatives, is a strong dislike of Trump.

He thinks the GOP 2018 election defeat isn't related to Trump's unpopularity and that everthing will be peachy for Republicans and Trump in 2020.

There are indeed upper-middle-class Trumpites, parading as everyday folks, trying to gut programs lower- and middle-class Americans depend upon.

Indeed. Trump cozies up to dictators and trash talks our democratically elected friends.

And there many middle class Americans who fell for Trump's bullsh*t rhetoric, and continually vote against their own self interest. Fact is, they're not very smart, individually or as a group.

Most folks making less than the median wage voted for Hillary, but too many of them swallowed Trump's BS.
