I propose to ban firearms on account of mass shootings. I propose to ban airplanes on account of 9/11. I propose to ban internet on account of hate propaganda. I propose to ban judiciary on account of mock trials. I propose to ban medicine on account of Nazi "doctors".
I have a modest proposal that when fully implemented decreases both gun crimes and gun deaths dramatically and to top it off is quite simple in concept. Proof of concept site: Chicago Action to be taken: Illinois NG, CPD and State Police to simultaneously seal off South and East Chicago and remove, forcibly if needed, all firearms from all known and suspected gang members and drug dealers. This includes the warrant-less searches of all houses, businesses, vehicles etc... Penalties for trying to smuggle out firearms is equally draconian. Then it is on to other gang and drug infested cesspool locations Too tough you say well too bad cause after all it is about assisting liberals in getting guns out of the hands of criminals.
If we could effectively do this in all the ghettos of the country, our gun violence stats would fall to levels at or below other European countries. Boom!

What is it with people making silly analogies on this board? Everything must be treated on a case by case basis. What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? I have concluded that the disadvantages of gun ownership clearly outweigh the advantages. I don't think you can truthfully claim the same thing about the internet, airplanes, the judicial system, and medicine.

The majority of the public does not support your proposal. To attempt such would be to tell them that their opinion does not matter, and that they will be ignored by those who are supposed to listen to them, and represent the interests of those who voted them into office. - - - Updated - - - Once again, you ignore that firearms being trafficked into the state of New York proves that their laws do not work, as they are easily subverted by a change of venue.
