Adam sinned, not Eve. Why did Yahweh punish an innocent Eve?

Be you a believer or not, your life has been affected by the mainstream religions and the myth of Adam and Eve. It is the source of Christian homophobia and misogyny.

There are many strange things in the myth of Adam and Eve.
Was Adam born alone or first?
If Adam was created in God’s image and likeness, who is woman modeled after?
Satan is depicted in part as a woman.

Who was she modeled on and why female? Likely because of evolution and women being men’s biological prize.

In law, to be punished, one must be shown to have evil intent or an evil mind. Latin, Men’s Rea.

This is what human justice is based on.

Was Eve innocent, given that she had no evil intent?

Aren't the rules around Mens Rea highly variable? Different levels for different crimes, etc. Some require none whatsoever, "ignorance of the law is not a defence" ("Ignorantia juris non excusat" if you want to fling Latin around). Seems to me the Bible isn't "human justice" in the sense you seem to imply.

Seems you have a particular bone to pick with Christianity alone....just sayin'. Perhaps you could enlighten us on the reason for the continuing rampant homophobia and misogyny in Islam...or is it just Christianity that gets under your skin?

    Yes. More like inhuman justice.

That is a part of why Christians adore a genocidal prick of a god and their justice is so poor as compared to secular law.

The command was to stay stupid and Eve was wise to ignore Yahweh, a god reject.

They were like babies. Too stupid to know they were naked.

If a baby caused a many casualty accident, would you hang it to punish it?

If not then your notions for Eden fail.

Both Christianity and Islam, slave holding ideologies, have basically developed into intolerant, homophobic and misogynous religions. Both religions have grown themselves by the sword instead of good deeds and continue with their immoral ways in spite of secular law showing them the moral ways.

Jesus said we would know his people by their works and deeds. That means Jesus would not recognize Christians and Muslims as his people, and neither do I. Jesus would call Christianity and Islam abominations.

Gnostic Christians did in the past, and I am proudly continuing that tradition and honest irrefutable evaluation based on morality.

Humanity centered religions, good? Yes. Esoteric ecumenist Gnostic Christianity being the best of these.

Supernaturally based religions, evil? Yes. Islam and Christianity being the worst of these.

I live in North America and Islam is puny compared to Christianity.

I see the church preaching inequality for all, especially lower value souls like gays and women, while the state preaches for equality.

    Whose policy do you promote?

If not the State's, you are a traitor to your nation.

Can you imagine yourself as a parent, telling your child to never go to school or seek any knowledge of anything?

That is what Yahweh commanded, while putting Satan there to insure that Eve be deceived. You are victim blaming.

You go ahead and try to find a way to praise that command to stay stupid, that with an argument.

    This I have to read.

Muslims believe in the same Adam and Eve Christians do, as they believe in the same Jewish God

Not sure how this is related. Surely if anything, the story suggests that one should figure out what the law is, so that one doesn't accidentally break it?

I do not hold any of the Bible to be particularly true or right, including any commands or blame. I'm just responding to arguments and statements that I think are incorrect.

Mens rea is not fundamental to human law, there are several cases where it is not applicable. I don't hold "ignorance of the law is not a defence" to be a legal absolute, but given that it is written in Leviticus 5:17, I imagine it's not something we can ignore when addressing Bible claims.

They both come from the same root. Most criticisms against Christianity also apply against Islam. Not all, but most.

He didn't forbid them any knowledge of anything. He forbade them knowledge of good and evil. He didn't want them to be moral agents, and make make moral judgments. Possibly because then they may judge him when he did horrible things. This is the first case of many in the Bible pushing a might makes right ideology or obedience to power, instead of making one's own moral judgments.

    Yes it is.

It is a measure of sanity.

It relates to the command to not eat of knowledge and stay stupid.

If you cannot see the connection, it is because you are obtuse.

Thank god she saved Adam from remaining too stupid to reproduce or know he was naked.

That is why Christians sing that Adam's sin kept god's plan on the rails.

You would derail that plan. Why?

    Buddy.

Good and evil applies to all possible knowledge, therefore, the tree of knowledge holds all knowledge because all knowledge is subject to being good or evil, true or false.

Show any knowledge that is exempt from this.

I wouldn't say so (I guess it depends a bit on what one means by "fundamental"). There are plenty of aspects where Mens Rea is not required for crimes, gross negligence, recklessness, and in certain cases of strict liability.

I don't see how "Can you imagine yourself as a parent, telling your child to never go to school or seek any knowledge of anything?" relates to "ignorance of the law is not a defence".

One thing is for sure. It takes a lot of ego for men to imagine that man was created "in God's image." Of course, it was also pretty silly to imagine that one of the two genders was created, presumably with intact sex organs, to exist on his own until he complained, at which point the other gender was created, but evidently still not as a sex partner initially.

Not knowing if a law, any law is good or evil, --- they could not know.

Knowing a law is really stupid, and ignoring, it is not evil. It is good.

In fact, from the Jewish original view of man showing Original Virtue in Eden, shows that Adam and Eve did the right thing.

Christians agree. Why else do you sing of Adam's sin being a happy fault?

    Yes.

In the rib woman edition or our creation, Eve is created as a sexual toy for us.

Not surprising that those vile son's of god later use Earth as a brothel and cause Yahweh to genocide his own grand children in shame.

He tends to bury his mistakes. He is a moral coward.

They were great till stupid literal reading of myths reared their supernatural garbage heads.

The Jewish take and version was/are not bad when Midrash was/is used, as intended by the authors.

Quite intelligent in fact when you see the success of man in Eden as they do.

If you see the fall that Christianity sees, then you are not reading Genesis correctly.

Even the Christians sing of Adam's sin as a happy fault and necessary to god.

As humans, be we believers or not, we have to thank our creator, nature to me, for the ability to do harm.

Christians thank god for that same ability to sin.

Without that, none of us would be here. It would mean that we are unfit and have not competed.

    Regards

What do you mean that we have to thank our creator for the ability to do harm? Every animal, a great many microbes and a good number of plants can cause harm to other life. What kind of harm did you have in mind?

Perhaps, perhaps not, but it does not make it legal. I objected to your statement that one must have a guilty mind to be punished, you seem to have shifted the question to one of morality, which seems to me different.

"Adam sinned, not Eve. Why did Yahweh punish an innocent Eve?"

remember, god punished all future women too, that is why childbirth is painful.... so the story goes

before that, no pain at all - can't say it was all rainbows and unicorns as rainbows did not exist until after the flood
