Who this Maria Butina & WTH is her connection with a Russian oligarch (Torshin?). Why is the GOP, National Prayer Breakfast & the NRA intertwined with her and the ruble? Is this not corruption?

There isn't much to debate here. Your title doesnt match the evidence. There is no suggestion that the back channel was ever established, just that she was involved in trying to, it has nothing to do with Trump, and how she rates the importance of people in the Republican party is unknown.

This spy was trying to network through the NRA (of which she held no position) to establish some sort of back channel with some republicans who were not affiliated with the presidential campaign. What am I meant to argue?

Yeah... that's what I would expect an unregistered spy to do. This does not in any way implicate wrongdoing by anyone else. That's like Borat punking all these politicians for his new show... they are not blamed for it... on either side. That a Russian spy did Russian spy **** is sort of... expected. Glad she was arrested, assuming the charges are valid, which they certainly seem to be.

There are a couple of unnamed Americans in the indictment. I hope you feel the same if they happen to be Devin Nunez and Jim Jordan.

 

Again, being a victim of manipulation by a spy is not something I can attack, unless something was done illegally to benefit them, in which case, of course I want them prosecuted, no matter who they are. I will go further and say I am glad for the investigation if it produced some spies to be routed... however... it would be pretty embarrassing if we didn't already know about her. She wasn't exactly low profile.

 

Bottom line in all of this for me is it goes to show the dangers of our national internal division, especially within our political apparatus, because it clearly leaves these segregated, mutually distrustful groups prone to mixed allegiances, siding with hostile foreign agents over their own countrymen. It is subversion, what the Russians have been up to, and it has affected conservatives, and so the Republicans, quite strongly so far. It's so sad to watch Americans praise Putin and Russia and direct all manner of hate and vitriol at the very people working to protect and defend them and the rest of this nation against such foreign threats.

 

If you want a real eye opener look up the Chris Wallace interview with Putin yesterday on Fox YouTube channel. I looked at the comments section and it was about 95% visciously ripping Wallace as a liberal tool and mounding praise onto Putin as a great leader and a real man. These Russians have infiltrated our country in a big way and now a large percentage of Trump supporters embrace the Russian dictator and hate our counterespionage and FBI agents. Their campaign of pro Russian anti-US propaganda has been a smashing success. Many of the posters on this forum are repeating Russian propaganda ver batum here every day. Hopefully when Mueller releases the results of his investigation it will shut these lying scumbags up for good.

 

Oh no, it won't. It will press them to double down further. Mueller is entirely "deep state" conspiracy in their minds. That's why this subversion is so dangerous - it can't be dealt with very simply at all. Not sure what could have been done to counter it, either. Putin has had every advantage through this approach, as he is no doubt very well aware.

 

Did you read the comments? I am sure there are some Russian trolls among them but most of those who commented are just your everyday Hannity watching morons who believe everything Sean and Don say. And they have been turned into de facto Commies and KGB lovers. Amazing!

I've been reading and just posting about YouTube comments by such people. Sure, *if* Trump winds up in trouble from the Mueller investigation, it will probably bring some of these people back to reality, but plenty of others will only retreat farther down that rabbit hole of "deep state" conspiracy and love for Trump and Putin/Russia as the "good guys." But at least they probably won't represent any kind of meaningful proportion of people who could or would cause a lot of trouble afterwards. They can commiserate about it all on their kooky forums and YouTube channels.
