The future is uncertain.........but then , the present isn't all that stable.

 

The Taliban will take over and CIA will back the opposition, but in the end it will turn back to the same islamist hell hole it was in 2000

 

IOW: Prognosis poor.

 

Why is there so much hate in the world? Humans can't act any better than this? Heartbreaking.

 

I hate seeing the taliban retake the country, but you just cannot create a statue out of sand. It was a noble goal, but in real life, not all things are always possible.

The best we can do is watch them carefully and punish them if their Al Qaeda friends become a threat again.

 

It is a total waste and it has been going on for several thousand years...

I said as far back as 2012, when Obama made his infamous 'midnight flight to Kabul' to kiss Karzai's ass, that this whole debacle in Afghanistan (which had already stunk to high-heaven for eleven years) would end badly.

Right now, you can bet your last Dogecoin that anybody in Afghanistan with any sense is planning to grab up as many of OUR carelessly thrown-around millions of dollars as they can and get their asses safely OUT of the country -- fast!

The sad part is that we took so much longer than the Russians did to abandon the place. We need to stop trying to fix hellholes.

 

The Chinese are already starting to replace us in Afghanistan.

 

Afghanistan is a messed up place.
A few years ago there was a news article about how the Afghan government was having trouble recruiting guards to work at checkpoints for places in remote outskirt areas. Apparently the primary problem was there was a shortage of "dancing boys", and these were one of the main perks for these guards working in remote areas for low pay with not much to do.
The problem was threatening to undermine the central government's control in remote areas.

The fact alone that this was actually an "issue" says a lot.

As an analogy, imagine if the US Army announced that they were having trouble recruiting enough soldiers because the men were complaining there weren't enough women to rape, and then in response to that "problem" the government was seriously trying to think up ways they might be able to increase the number of women available.

 

It's more about power.
