The elected officials in charge of each so-called "sanctuary city" in the united state, that being cities that will do everything possible to shield illegal aliens from being found by federal enforcement officials, all belong to the liberal democrat party. They are saying they side with illegal aliens rather than actual citizens of the united states.

What am I twisting? Did trump let criminals out and attack bidens crime bill? Y’all hope you can talk out of both sides (Biden is weak on crime, and his crime bill is too mean to criminals) And hope nobody will point it out.

What does that have to do with my post? If you just want to throw things into the thread, post it without replying.

I am not explaining away anything beside that you are perpetuating a load of hype when you write statements like this:

63 people were killed in just the 1992 Rodney King LA riot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Los_Angeles_riots

I will give you that the King riots were really really bad. I will also say that these riots are just as bad. I changed my statement. Sorry.

I doubt very much that if one were to add up all of the current 2020 riots thus far that they would come anywhere close to just the 1992 Rodney King Riot in terms of folks killed, injured, arrested and property damages.

And when you talk about the lack of respect for authority it just seems to me that we are nowhere close to where we were in the decade from 1965 to 1975.

The police nowadays have way too much authority and the hazards of their job do not even come close to justifying their use of SS style authority over any of our citizens. The police are so far down on the list of occupations with per capita fatalities it is laughable how folks bitch and whine about how they put their lives on the line for us. Bullshit. You owe far more thanks to the lumber industry everytime you buy a two by four from Home Depot for someone that has risked their life to make yours better.

We will have to agree to disagree on this. You hardly ever heard of a cop getting shot back in those days. It was rough times no doubt but cop killings were not the norm.

Posse Comitatus. That's why Bush waited to go into New Orleans after Katrina. He wasn't invited.

    So?

Not even ONE Word addressing the Actual Topic?

Just 2 Paragraphs personally attacking the poster?

    Wow. :smh:

As far as the Actual Topic of the OP:

From what I have sern, this directive from Barr is only being implemented concerning Kansas City.

    So?

Why is the article in the OP referring to "Cities" (Plural)?

Bullshit. Chimpy could've federalized the Louisiana Guard - and units from surrounding states - at any time. He and Brownie did a heckuva job fumbling the ball.

You seem determined to make the current situation worse than my understanding of US history makes it out to be: why?

If you go and dig through BLS statistics you will find that there are approximately 640k folks engaged in occupation 33-3051, "Police and Sheriff's Patrol Officers" as of the May 2018 estimate. The BLS fatality count for police is around 111 for NAICS code 92212. About half of these fatalities were do to transportation accidents. This number about equals the FBI's estimate for 2018 which was about 106.

Thus there were about 60/600,000 police killed in action in 2018 by homicide.

Interestingly enough, it seems there are no government published numbers on folks killed by police in 2018, but several Google results seem to agree on about 1000 folks killed by police in 2018.

So I don't know about you but to me neither of these numbers suggest that cop killings by civilians or civilian killings by cops are really even much of an issue. Cop wars is not a thing.

I think you need to research National Guard mobilization before you post on the matter again.

BS!!!! For more then three years, President Trump has stated that if the leadership of these liberally controlled cities did not take action themselves, then he would step in. He has given them three years, but these leaders has done nothing to solve the problems. Quite the opposite. They have taken actions, such as bail reform, that have made the situations worse. So, now he has the AG stepping in. The only problem with this is that the current AG is limiting to only enforcing federal statutes. He can not charge someone for breaking a State or Local Statute.

The strange thing is that Murder rates were down most of 2020, but has suddenly spiked in most of the major cities in the last two months. Of course the protests have had something to do with that. But the fact has caused the President to go ahead and act, is the calls to defund the police. The point that that President Trump and AG Barr is making, is that if the cities hamstring the local police from doing their job, then they will step on.

Great Job Mr. President and AG Barr.

There are a great many cases of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon that can easily be prosecuted under federal statutes, rather than local statutes.

I want them promoting smoke detectors and enforcing fire codes rather than buying bigger and faster cars for the fire chiefs that don't fight fires. Just so, I think we should put our money into policemen's salaries rather than tanks for the SWAT team.
