President Chaos is at it again. How irresponsible is this?
How unpresidential is this? Is this just an attempt to get more TV time and pretend that you are the big boy in charge? How can you Trump supporters justify this?
This man is not fit to be president
At the end of the day, let's listent to the former British ambassador to Lebanon “I would advise against listening to Donald Trump at the best of times, let alone the worst,” Tom Fletcher,

Very Ill-advised comments by Trump (on the Beirut Explosion). :smh:

He just needs to keep his mouth shut (and not spread his IMBECILIC Brain Diarrhea on the World stage).

    Trump is a Worldwide Laughingstock.

    Exactly.

Trump is so abhorrent that he is losing to "Weekend at Bernie's".

    Let that sink in.

Biden is going to mop the floor with Trump.

There are so many people fed up with Trump, that when it comes to a Binary Choice, Trump is Losing to "Weekend at Bernie's".

Desperate times for the Trump Campaign.:smh:

Yes, just a little over 90 days now. He's got to stir some schit up now because doing his job is something he seems adverse to do. He's that employee who never read his job description.

    That is an excellent point.

    And here is my take:

Trump (and Everybody Else) Already Knows that he is going to Lose.

Now America (and Everybody Else) is praying that (during the 78-day Lame Duck Period) he doesn't start WW3.

Nobody can exhale UNTIL Biden is actually sworn in on Jan. 20th.

I was going to create a thread on the bombing, but I think this video from NBC fits here since, in the end, it documents Trump's remarks of which the OP is about.

I'm in awe of the power of this explosion. It really looks like a classic mushroom cloud. I can't imagine what went through those people's minds.

and this video is going to become classic...

All accounts I’ve read so far suggest that this was a tragic accident waiting to happen. Seems more like complacent city planners than terrorism.

This might be Trump trying to please his Jewish son in law by demonizing Lebanon.
    (Probably with Hezbollah in mind.)

Lunatic President trying to stir up trouble.

If this accident hadn't been so clearly an accident this might actually be dangerous.
As it is, Trump just looks like the victim of his own paranoia.
Or whoever whispers paranoia into his ear.

Iran says it holds US Navy veteran, 1st arrest of Trump era
By NASSER KARIMI and JON GAMBRELL January 9, 2019
    ~snip~

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran confirmed it is holding U.S. Navy veteran Michael R. White at a prison in the country, making him the first American known to be detained under President Donald Trump’s administration.

White’s detention adds new pressure to the rising tension between Iran and the U.S., which under Trump has pursued a maximalist campaign against Tehran that includes pulling out of its nuclear deal with world powers.

Although the circumstances of White’s detention remain unclear, Iran in the past has used its detention of Westerners and dual nationals as leverage in negotiations.

    ....

While relations between Iran and the U.S. warmed under President Barack Obama, they’ve turned increasingly toxic under Trump. Trump in May withdrew America from the nuclear deal, which saw Iran limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the easing of economic sanctions.

Trump has said he withdrew from the deal to put further pressure on Iran over its ballistic missile program, as well as to blunt its influence in the wider Mideast. While American officials deny that the goal of the U.S. policy is regime change, his administration includes officials who have openly called for Iran’s government to be overthrown.

The worsening ties could be heard in remarks Wednesday by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who previously has told Trump he “cannot do a damn thing” to stop Iran.

“Some U.S. officials pretend that they are mad,” Khamenei said. “Of course I don’t agree with that, but they are first-class idiots.”

I wonder how this blast compares to the Oklahoma bombing of 1995?

"Although the circumstances of White’s detention remain unclear,"

^ ^ sure was not because top leadership ordered them to their knees to be paraded and humiliated on global tv. How long before or after that did the last Democrat president, give them billions in cash? Straight up cash, in the dead of night.

Did Congress ever rubber stamp it?

Remember, in 2016, when Trump thought a pen could be a bomb?!

    ''Good'' times!

    https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/claudiakoerner/trump-says-reporters-pen-could-have-been-a-littl

"She had a pen in her hand, which Secret Service is not liking because they don't know what it is," he said. "It could be a little bomb."

Trump continued to say that even if it were only a pen, it was still dangerous.

"She had a pen in her hand," he said. "It could've been a knife. It could've been just a pen, which is very dangerous."

Seems like Trumps paranoia still reigns supreme.

    But a lot BIGGER...

More and more I get the impression that President Trump just can't tell the difference between what should remain confidential (possibly for just a short period) and what can be said publicly. I have no doubts that he spoke to some generals about the explosion and maybe someone threw out the idea of it being an attack. Clearly, they didn't all agree on that or it would have been reported. However, Trump decides to mention it as a way to get "in front" of the idea before it's (possibly) made public. To me, that is dangerous especially during a time in which we cannot afford to ruffle feathers domestically or internationally.

    That is a great story.

    Thanks for reminding me.

If anything, Trump is always good for Comic Relief.

Anyway, back to the Beirut Explosion.

It goes without saying that it was completely beneath the dignity of the office to refer to it as an "attack".

    What was Trump thinking?

A bit late in the game but probably the best description of Trumps mental state of mind I've read.

As Trump is unable to grasp everyday reality, like what his Generals tell him about Beirut, he feels forced to get ahead of the discussion before others start it.
Trump would otherwise be forced to follow the discussion and therefore be completely lost. He has the attention-span of a nano-second.
This way he keeps ''control'' of the narrative even though it's completely his own version. Often not even close anymore to what actually transpired.

    Inventing his own reality.

An individual like this is HIGHLY susceptible to what others whisper in his ear or WORSE completely control him.

DEF con 1 on the scale of dangerous.

I read The Oklahoma cIty bomb was only 4,800 lbs of fertilizer and fuel. Beirut was 2750 TONS. I can’t believe they left it stored like that for so long.

Someone mentioned on the thread about the explosion that the material might have been seized and just stored without anyone really knowing what it was. I'm not an expert, but, I would argue that "knowing what you have" would be a top priority with any search and seizure operation.

yeah, somebody dropped the ball, big time. I read there were complaints filed about having it all stored there improperly but I can’t remember who filed the complaint and who it was directed to. It was obviously and unfortunately ignored though. Bet they won’t do that again.
