No I am not from Sina. I just have another house there for weekends. My parents are from Assyut and Cairo. So you are bedouin:sun: I know of the Tarabeen but the tribe where my house is is the Aleigat.

Do you read Sandmonkey or Zeinobia?

Do you check out Bikya Masr?

Sabbah Report, Turning Bedouin, Arab Democracy.com, The Arabist.net ?

I am agree to punish people who get drunk and f**king around, to send even prison for few days and makes it again to keep him more days...

However if you bann it, you ll steal the rights of people who knows how to drink. Maybe some people will try to understand ''why i am insisting, if not to drink alchol is so important for me''. The answer maybe to drink alchol is not too important on the other hand to be aganist this banns is important, this is a line to live free or to live with banns. If you don't have system protecting you today alchol bann, tomorrow to bann girls travel alone and list goes on... Because who gets goverment brings their banns and rules. You can't be more than monarchy or a tribe nation.

Who describes the border of the tolerance? Is there a written rule about tolerance?

Off hand , I'd say its a matter of being rational + excercising good judgement, something one wouldnt expect from an intoxicated person who is incapable of self-control.

And this is why Turkey is hugely popular. You may or may not drink, you may or may not wear a scarf, you may or may not be a Christian.

Hope Erdogan keeps this attitude intact.

Abu , you should try spending yr summers in any of Lebanon's mountain villages or in Al-Andalus, near the snow capped Sierra Nevadas, south of Granada. For most its the nearest to Jannah on earth.

Meanwhile , keep the A.C. going - Good luck,

It's a beautiful 32 today so cool and lovely. No air con till it hits 38 :sun:

I loved the Swiss and Austrian and Scottish mountains in the snow.
I remember being in one hotel in a place called Glencoe with friends and stayed in a tiny log cabin in a village there. That hotal had a sign outside that said something like 'No Cannibals allowed'. Something to do with some massacre we were told ??? Anyway on the wall they had photos of climbers climbing one of those mountains. They were wearing boots and helmets and ........................nothing else!!!:omg: IN THE SNOW!!!!
Thankfully they were facing the mountain when the photos were taken:mrgreen:

Next one will be Lebanon on your advice when I have time!

    What ? 32 - 38 c ?

Hek I use to walk the streets of Dammam /Al-Khobar , office to office , gathering info for a Business Directory co., when temp was 42 - 44c. in the shade , except there was no blinking shade.

Yep - I've been to Glencoe , wrong time - we were plagued/bitten by midges .

I'm sure you'll love Lebanon , if you dont like skiing then try the Baalbek festival, if not there are endless alternative entertainment. But keep away from Casino du Liban, I had a good mentor , who paid entrance fee and told me to go there with empty pockets , I came out - dazed - as I went in + , hanging on to my trousers .

    cheers.

Even though Turkish secularism has some problems.Secularism is something very good which all muslim countries should try it.Im sure Erdoğan is also aware of this fact.

Yes. Although there are some restaurants and other venues that don't serve it during Ramadan (some don't serve it year long). It often depends on the neighborhood; (Christian / Islamic (depending if it is secular or not).

Yes. Just like I think hash should.

Yes Abu Sina, I am Bedouin but of the newer more Westernized breed, I've always wanted to go to Sina and see my roots though, i'm sure they're not pretty but its still something that you feel is yours, u know. Just like your vices, hence my dislike of morality laws.

lols australia's drinking laws vary from state to state. our state (WA) used to limit pub opening hours from 10 am - 10 pm with variations by special licence. except for sundays. I think most pubs weren't open on sundays, but there were special sundat sessions which were maybe 2 - 3 hours maximum.

    clubs had separate licensing laws.

it has changed - but liquor stores I think are still not allowed to open on sundays .... except for pub bottleshops during session opening hours maybe.

and we can't buy alcohol from a supermarket or any other premises EXCEPT a licenced liquour outlet.

doesn't stop us from having a huge drinking culture though.

Alcohol in Ramadan is not allowed for Muslims, because Alcohol is not allowed is not allowed at all.
and now that we got that out of the way, lets talk about specifics.
since Turkey is the greatest, most wonderful example of a secular muslim state in this planet, we do not ban it, everyone is by law allowed to drink what ever they want, when ever they want.
but at the same time, we allow those who wants to practice Islam and fast in Ramadan.
