Okay, at first I thought she was being stupid. Then I actually read what she said.

1) She made very clear it as a joke.
2) The Constitution does, indeed, only refer to the President in male pronouns.

 

It is true that the U.SD. has some social programs--good ones. But it is false to regard the U.S. as a "socialist" country. Much has to change for the better before that can happen.

 

It depends on what the definition of "Socialist" is. If we go by the pure definition "state owning all resources and means of production and by State we mean owned by the collective" Pure Socialism has never existed in the modern era. You would have to go back to tribal societies that operated on generalized reciprocity. No "Nation" has ever had pure socialism (lacking the collective part).

If we define Socialism as "wealth redistribution" - we could call nations more or less socialist on the degree of wealth redistribution.

If we define Socialism by the degree of regulatory control over resources and means of production - this is something different yet.

 

I now see why you support Trump. You sound just like him.

 

Socialism has less in common with communism than it has in common with capitalism. Socialism is NOT an evolutionary step toward communism. Socialism--especially Democratic Socialism--is a form of capitalism altered to be more responsive to sharing the benefits of society with a larger portion of that society. See post #140 above by Giftedone, for a better definition of "socialism."

That is not quite fair. She seems to be able to speak in coherent sentences which Trump can only do when reading from his teleprompter.

And she hasn't said anything about " global waming"

 

The sad thing is most Trump supporters are so clueless that even a simple and obvious joke goes right over their heads.

That said when the Constitution was written the founders were so convinced of the inferiority of women that they could not possibly have even though about anyone running for President that wasn't a property owning white male.

 

Actually no. I am not in any camp except the camp that says practically anyone would be better for America than Trump.

 

I have watched & listened to several news interviews with AOC, as well as watched several Youtube videos of her, and find myself in near perfect agreement with her political views. I see nothing dumb about her. She has Bachelor's degrees in Economics & International Relations, which is a very good foundation for a political career--far better than what Trump has, which is nothing. AOC is too young to run for President, but it's a definite possibility in the future. I'd definitely vote for her.
