It’s Tuesday. You wake up late. Your alarm didn’t go off. You look closer and see that it’s not even on. You try the light on your nightstand, there’s no power. “Funny, I didn’t hear rain and thunder last night,” you mumble.

You reach for your cell phone only to see it’s not connected to the internet. You want a news update, so you run for the TV or radio only to find darkness and silence. All the clocks in your home, the microwave, internet router, ceiling fans stand in a motionless, quiet blind hush. Surely there was a storm and the power’s out, so you rush to the garage to check your car radio for an update. Nothing. You’re worried about getting to work but – work isn’t open today.

You see your neighbors in the streets wandering, inquiring, worriedly questioning what the hell is going on? Everyone is separated from friends and families, and society. If you’re able to start your car, there’s no radio because there are no stations broadcasting. As you drive the streets you see there are no stores open, no streetlights or traffic signals. No gas being pumped, no neon gods dominating the landscape directing you to SHOP HERE or BURGERS 99₵.

You see the mobs gathering. Crowds of people scared, scavenging about for their next meal, worried about their very existence for imagined reasons unknown. As if some unannounced early Christmas sale, there’s shoving, pushing, yelling, trampling. They’re running from broken storefronts, arms loaded with meats and cans. Fights are rampant as people, unaware of what’s really happened, don’t care – they just want to survive the day, the hour. Those with guns drawn are seen protectively guarding their stash and maneuvering for more.

Yes, it’s finally happened., That event no one wanted to talk about – no one wanted to prepare for has shown up on America’s doorstep; stolen in through an open window of opportunity. Crept through an unlocked door of ignorant exposure.

It’s a subject that many in government are either unaware or illiterate of, afraid of, or simply don’t want to address for some budgetary or political agenda. And yet, this threat can and potentially will destroy America and in the course, help to destroy the world America supports and leads.

    It’s happened before.

https://westernfreepress.com/boat-americas-greatest-threat-our-armageddon-is-coming/ This is a scary near certain future. We need to prepare for it now. We may lose 90% of our population if this happens and we aren’t prepared.

We need to be prepared for an EMP event either from the sun or from a human enemy.

The common use of electricity is less than 100 years old for most of the world, humanity will survive just fine if need be. The cities will be disaster areas, but that's already the case anywhere liberals have control...

Yeah we know and we've been working on it for two decades.

An EMP would have dramatic local effects and regional collapse would be possible, the use of one by another nation would be very unwise and they know it. A Solar event would be the most likely and there is no preparation for one big enough to cause serious damage.

    Very interesting topic.

EMP as a disabling weapon has long been a device in SciFi and hollywood. There are a lot of myths surrounding what the effects of either a large solar event or a nuclear bomb in the atmosphere.

I found this rather interesting analysis of the actual risks and effects.

Hardly armaggedon but an expensive pain in the arse.

Scientists keep a very close eye on the Sun these days and the world in general is alert to the the potential risk posed by geomagnetic storms. Given this and the fact we would have something in the vicinity of 2 to 5 days warning in advance of a direct strike by a major storm there is a whole chain of protective measures utility companies and governments can and would put in place in advance to minimize damage.

Would such a storm still be a disruptive event, yes. Would it end civilization as we know it - not by a long shot. I'd go with the 'pain in the arse' description above as a fair assessment of the outcome.

"One can protect oneself with advance information and proper precautions. During a hurricane watch, a homeowner can stay put . . . or he can seal up the house, turn off the electronics and get out of the way. Similarly, scientists at NASA and NOAA give warnings to electric companies, spacecraft operators, and airline pilots before a CME comes to Earth so that these groups can take proper precautions. Improving these predictive abilities the same way weather prediction has improved over the last few decades is one of the reasons NASA studies the sun and space weather. We can't ignore space weather, but we can take appropriate measures to protect ourselves.

And, even at their worst, the sun's flares are not physically capable of destroying Earth."

Earthlings are simply along for the ride! The rock Earth will survive while humans/animals will come and go. Whether it's our propensity for wars and weapons of mass destruction, or our abuse of Earth's natural resources, over-population, the potential for natural disasters, and this list goes on, it seems humanity lives on the brink of something at all times. I think it's foolish to place odds on which 'event' will take the greatest toll on Earthlings. How long will our potable water last? Will we have enough arable land to produce food? How bad can global climate change be? What's the potential for new bacteria and viruses and spread of disease? I wonder how many Earthlings, who have no money, or live pay check to pay check, with no savings, teetering on the brink of homelessness, begging for food and water, care about an electromagnetic event?

I can answer the bacteria part.

It's doubtful that there will be any development of new disease and the spread of current ones would probably be reduced since people are more likely to scatter in this event.

It would be far less dangerous than walking through the mall on a crowded Saturday afternoon as an example.

The biggest issue is treatment for these diseases assuming pharmacy's have emptied out and doctors offices are closed.

While the death rate may not necessarily skyrocket there will be a lot more misery.

This is why I have about a decades supply of antibiotics with me.

You can buy them in Mexico over the counter.

Those will be more valuable than pretty much anything in this scenario.

Here is the REPORT that was published in 2008,Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack,

where the then Democrat control of Congress did noting about it, then comes the Republicans who also did not do anything either, neither have previous Presidents done anything, thus President Trump by EXECUTIVE ORDER finally gets the ball rolling, Executive Order on Coordinating National Resilience to Electromagnetic Pulses

Why President Trump’s Executive Order on EMP Preparedness Is Huge

    By Glynn Cosker
    Managing Editor, In Homeland Security

    EXCERPT:

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is one of the biggest threats to our national security, with worst-case scenarios showing a doomsday scene right out of an apocalyptic movie. However, President Donald Trump’s important March 26 executive order is a huge step toward making America prepared for an EMP.

EMPs are not a new concern. The Congressional EMP Commission has warned for nearly 20 years that an EMP is capable of destroying civilization and killing millions of people, but the Commission’s findings have largely gone unnoticed. President Trump’s executive order should make the nation take notice.

EMP is actually largely a theory. There is very little actual evidence to it's effects.

And until about 30 years ago, a lot of our infrastructure was actually protected against it. The way to prevent EMP damage is amazingly simple, the concept to prevent the damage is almost 200 years old. But since the end of the Cold War most aspects have been scrapped in the name of cost.

Most of our military equipment is still protected against EMP, the biggest problem is going to be in the equipment developed in the last 40 years or so. Today our cars are as much computer as they are mechanical, with computers running everything from the ignition and engine operation to climate control and everything else.

The ironic thing is that after a massive EMP event, the guy with the 50+ year old Toyota or Volkswagen will at most have to replace maybe $20 of parts which will take an hour to do. Meanwhile the ones with a Mercedes, Lexus or BMW will likely never be able to drive their car ever again.
