What are you talking about? You realize "Handmaid's Tale" is fiction, right?

Hmm.. ok, it simply isn't true though. For those of us who are conservative, we consistently take the side of liberty and freedom. There isn't any cause for which unless already granted to government, we need additional layers of government to otherwise control our lives. That is, and has been, the position of conservative Americans. It will continue to be so. Sorry that doesn't align with your independence theory.

Folks like Garcetti and Newsome were begging for martial law because they weren't able to enforce the lockdowns indefinitely. Now, the gift of racism has given them a second bite at the same apple. How ironic that their own failures as leaders to protect their state and cities is now the excuse for their win in emplacing their national guard troops to enforce the continued lockdowns....

And what is the conservative stand on minimum wage, minimum mark up, mandatory ethanol, carbon emission, fossil fuels, EPA, public education, IRS, SEC, HUD, trusts, monopolies, regulation of the market place, and on, and on, and on, and on, as well as the matters of choice--sex partner, sodomy, marriage, pornography, drugs, abortion--in the former, Progressive light, in the later, God's will. How does all that fit in with the principle on Individual Rights?

The Conservatives are liberty's worst nightmare--tradition, collectivism, altruism, mysticism, deity, and divinity. What we need is a movement dedicated to reality, reason, capitalism, beauty, and individual rights. That would be:

You realize, the conservative's hypocrisy and betrayal of liberty aren't.

Conservatism isn't an Ayn Rand book, or slogans.. The minute the constitution was ratified, the conservative approach has been to preserve it. To exemplify it as the intellectual foundation of our nation. When folks like you champion "reality, reason etc" you realize you sound just like the marxists of the 1800s... right? except then, it wasn't "capitalism" it was marxism and communism where communal purity could be attained in their Utopian dream.

I fear that you've been so poorly taught that your ability to differentiate what is real and what is fiction spoon fed to you is non existent.

How are they going to preserve that which they don’t understand. I’ll tell you how they are trying—with prayer, appeals to self-sacrifice, and divine guidance.

Here’s my prayer in answer, “God. Please save us from your followers, especially the Islamic theocracies, and the wannabe Christian theocracies, the Religious Right.”

Now that Trump is the one using authoritarian language and threatening to send in the military to crush protests, his supporters have suddenly gone quiet about criticising authoritarianism.

Is authoritarianism only bad if you can blame Democrats, but perfectly fine if it comes from a a Republican?

This is the stupidest thing I have ever read. Reading the OP, I thought you might be a principled believer in freedom. Reading this reply makes it clear you aren't. What do you think Trump meant when he said the governors needed to "dominate" the protesters? That he is into BDSM?

Very simple, the police instigate violence against people of color and people who call for actual change. When Republican bootlickers come along, their protests don't challenge anyone in power, so they let them do what they want. It is also white privilege as well. If you are white and you show up armed, storm the capitol building, and and get in a cops face like this...

    There are no consequences.

When you are a person of color and/or you have the audacity to demand real substantive changes, even if you protest peacefully, this happens...

Trump called them all weak and threatened an illegal invasion of the independent States if they don't impose strong-arm tactics.

Trump's solution to police abuse of power and cold-blooded murder, is MORE abuse of power!

So now the real dictator is there for everyone to see. Not only that, he brought in the military to attack peaceful protesters in front of the WH so he could have a photo op.

The real reason for the attack on innocent Americans is that he was forced to hide in his bunker at the WH for an hour the other night LOL! So today he punished anyone who was there for his humiliation.

Declare martial law with shoot to kill orders, and enforce a 24-hour curfew, demand a 25-year prison sentence for rioters and looters--it's more than the subhuman scum deserve.

The riots are not a cry for justice, but its victims' cries are. The riots are the evil devouring the good.

The Left's propaganda bullhorns have played a central role in inciting and excusing the violence that led to these measures. Rest assured that they'll do their best to spin this to advance their political agenda.

The entire thing from Minneapolis to where we are today is a Democrat thing. It may not have been deliberate but as Nancy Pelosi has said, "Never let a crisis go to waste", only this has blown up in their face. The racism thing died with the BLM in St Louis, no rational person is buying it. Before Trump got elected race relations were stable and an epiphany was beginning to take hold. Reasonable people were waking up to the fact that the nation then as now had been snookered by the media. What's happening now did not escalate by itself, it was orchestrated by leftist agitators and the media is complicit. Where ever Democrats are in power, be it state or local it all turns to **** after which they create a boogeyman to blame for their incompetence and malfeasance. America has been slowly waking up to the fact that this has been going on since the sixties. The similarities to what is presently going on and the sixties is no coincidence, then the boogeyman was the war in Viet Nam and now it is "pervasive" racism. It was bullshit then and is bullshit now. Democrat voters need to wake up to the fact that their party has been co-opted by the extreme left and what's going on is illustrative of the authoritarian, dictatorial, country they want us to be. After the election in 2016 America was beginning to blossom again, the economy was picking up and people were participating and happier than they'd been in a long time. One only has to look back at all the false intrigues they created, all of the criminal actions they committed in an attempt to unseat the president for over three years to realize how culpable the Democrats are for what is going on now. The extreme left has never made any bones about their desire to destroy America, they've always failed politically so instead they resort to insurrection under the banner of "peaceful protests". This is nothing like the Civil Rights movement, the victory of which is one of America's proudest moments and is being stained and belittled by any comparison. MLK would not approve of what's going on and real Democrats, if there are any should also condemn it.

    Not true.

Conservatives in large part voted for laws preventing the freedoms of Americans to marry who they wished.
Conservative by and large vote for laws restricting a woman's right to reproductive freedoms.
Conservatives generally have voted against the freedoms of Americans to use recreational drugs.

I'm not in any way suggesting liberals haven't also voted to restrict some freedoms, just pointing out that conservatives don't have
roses growing out of their butts either.

LOL.... Asking the government to do its job to protect citizens and their property, to you, is authoritarian? Laughable. But, nice to see just how superficial your depth here is.

I think he meant exactly what he said. Prior to the Trump statement, so many governors and mayors were simply allowing the looting and rioting to continue. By dominating those who would riot and loot, the restoration of peace to our cities should be achievable. No? He also went to great lengths to differentiate an honest protester and the mobs who are looting and rioting, but you must have missed that part. So typical.

Your attempt to rewrite history seems a waste of time. So a couple things. In the examples you provided, can you show me a constitutional argument that would indicate that any of the things you wrote could be considered a protected right in this framework?

As a conservative, I find that while very convenient to me, the right to marry who folks wish is not something that I would expect the constitution to address. It is, and has been the purview of the states to decide these matters, not the federal government. And yes, I expect that equal protection under the law means exactly that. Creating restrictions of infanticide, also something left to the states. Contravening the federal ability to regulate interstate commerce seems to allude you. If you were only addressing intra-state commerce, the individual states would be the point of decision there. As has become the case, in violation of the federal mandates. Why not address those concerns there, as is appropriate constitutionally?
