When the banneroids start to piss me off, I take action. What makes me feel better? I just buy another firearm. Women buy shoes. I go another route. I've been looking to replace my beloved S&W 3913. The old smith is a superb weapon, however it's beginning to show its age and round count. She is a bit heavy and has that TDA action that I despise so much. However before I put Betsy into a well deserved retirement what is going to replace her? I've rejected a number of weapons. The Ruger LC9, while the right size and the right weight doesn't have the reliability that I want. The Kahr is expensive, doesn't fit my hand that well and I don't like the break in BS they spout. The finalist are as follows. 1) Glock 43. 2) Walther PPS M2. 3) S&W M&P Shield 4) Springfield XD-S 3.3. Help me decide. Your thoughts? Remember this is about gun control. LOL.

From your list, the Glock 43. Personally, I love my Kahr CW-9. It's basically the same gun as the Glock except it's stainless. The CW series have all the functionality of the K series with a plainer wrapper. I've seen them consistently in the $350-400 range. I had one FTE at about #225, but flawless since with about 2000 rounds through her. A Hogue Handall Jr slips on perfectly without trimming to give the grip a tacky feel and provide ridges between fingers. All 3 fingers fit on the grip. Great gun.
I like the Glock a lot. The Kahr just doesn't fit the hand well. It's also quite light. I don't like the idea of the break in with them. The CW is the "value" version of the line too.
I like the shield, I like the More expensive SIG 938 better. The new Honor Guard firearms look promising as well
I recommend the Glock. Glocks are not fussy about ammo, they are accurate, they are reliable, they are simple to fix if it's ever needed, and they are very durable. That Glock 43 you're considering is a nice pocket gun. I have 3 Glocks - a Glock 21, Glock 26 (something you could consider) and a Glock 42, Glock's little .380. I use and enjoy all 3 of them. It occurs to me that if you're converting from that Smith to a Glock, the possibility exists that when you draw the gun, your trigger finger automatically goes to the trigger. On a double-action first shot pistol this does not create much of a safety issue because it still takes a very deliberate and determined effort to pull the trigger to get the gun to fire. Not so with the Glock or similar pistols like the Kahr or the S&W M&P. Depending on what your habits were with the Smith, you may need to change them for a Glock. The trigger finger does not belong inside the trigger guard of a Glock unless you've decided to fire. Once you've taken the slack out of the trigger, shooting the Glock, M&P, or the Kahr is similar to shooting a single-action pistol. Sorry, I don't mean to insult your intelligence or experience. I just can't recommend that switch over without mentioning it. Nevertheless, my recommendation is the Glock.
My wife wants a pistol with a manual safety. I like the Sig 938, but I think she is leaning towards the Sig 238.(.380) It's a moot point until she gets an LTC. The last gun she "liked" is now my deep concealment pocket gun. (LCP) The 938 is beautiful and feels solid in the hand. I've never shot one, but I do like them. Aren't the grips interchangeable with aftermarket grips? Maybe even Mustang .380/Kimber .380/P238 grips. There are a variety of grips for whatever you like.
yep, my wife owns a dozen 238s. she collects them. I ended up buying a dillon square deal dedicated solely to 380 to keep her guns fed I can load a thousand with Berry plated bullets for about 105 bucks. with modern 380 ammo its a decent defense gun. She also has a couple Kimber Micros which are pretty much the same. The colt mustang started this-it was discontinued but after Colt saw how well the SIGS sold, they revived it.
Kahr is a 1/2" DAO pull every time. It's a little long, but smooth as silk and not very heavy. It's hard to beat Glock for reliability. My results with a Kahr may not be typical.
I already own the G26 and the G19. I"m also far from an amateur. I commonly carry 3 weapons, a Ruger LCR, the G26 with a 12 round mag and the little Smith. The big advantage of the S&W is that it's a safe carry especially if you put it in your pocket. The conversion to DAO makes all systems with the same operation.
I won't carry a Glock or other pistol with no manual safety or decocker in an IWB or especially appendix carry. For Appendix carry, I prefer a Beretta 84 which allows 1) hammer down DA first shot 2) a positive safety that prevents the weapon being fired its the only safety system that prevents an AD if the gun gets snagged being drawn now in an OWB holster, I have no problem carrying a G19 or a SW M&P
I've never owned a Kahr, but my LE friends who have owned them have reported very good results with them. Sorry, man. I kinda figured that was the case, but it's the firearms instructor in me .... just couldn't help myself and had to say it. I carry both the 26 and the 42 in my pocket, but they are in pocket holsters for safety.
While you discounted the Kahr, and many do, my PM9 is a small package and, counter intuitively, very pointable for me. Despite reliability critism I have read, It has been absolutely flawless for me and one of the most concealable 9's I have had. I made a tuckable holster (my design) and it disappears IWB behind a tucked shirt or in a compression holster shirt. I like the trigger on mine, maybe because after as many rounds down range as I have with it, it is very smooth and predictable for me. On mine, I have a CT, a custom (again my design) trigger block, and a Techna Clip that provides several minimal CC options. When not using the Kahr, I carry my G26 with an added trigger safety, Techna Clip, and CT. I usually carry it with a 10 rd mag, but have one or two backup G19 mags. Those mags can be fitted with an X grip base and it's like carrying a short barrel G19. A G19 works, but I found I had more carry options with the G26. My G26 has aftermarket barrel and, for me, is one of my more accurate guns at 0 to 25... strangely, even better than my Gen1 19. I used to almost always CC a 1911, being a fan of the .45 and my last one was a Springfield MicroCompact. I am very good at tuning 1911's and mine was flawless with a number of mods, extra capacity mags, night sights, reliability tuning, etc. but sold that and went with the HK45c I have and never looked back. It has not only perfectly gobbled everything I have fed it, but has been the most accurate, best shooting .45 I have owned ... fits me perfectly. And, it can handle the .450 SMC ammo I sometimes carry. The only downside is the DA is far from the best..., but the SA was easy to tune to my preference. I always practice 1st shot DA because I carry it decocked, so I am used to the not optimum DA....might do ambi some day, just haven't gotten to it. Reading reviews I think can help advise on reliability of a platform which is extremely important, but I find I have to hold a gun to see if it fits me, how quickly/seamlessly I can bring it up for sighting and how it will work for this southpaw. I also like platforms with lots of options for carry concealment, lasers, sights, parts availability, etc. as well. I like a number of guns out there, but being left handed (not a lefty) has it's choice limitations.
One of my favorite weapons in the world is my S&M .357 Revolver that once fired rears up and settles down so smoothly back to target. Plus if using a .357 Round as it also will take .38 rounds I can put that .357 round right through an ENGINE BLOCK!! AA
If you want to CC a Glock with added safety, let me know off line, I have a few options that have been personally tested.
Regardless of the gun, I have always viewed my trigger finger as my unfailing safety. Aside from a good holster, there are aftermarket options for a Glock. I originally used a triggerblok (correct spelling) but have used a Siderlock for several years now...both worked and no loss of speed.
