That's right. The Tea Party is not a party, it's an organization made up of tax paying voters. And if they are influencing politics in Washington, well that is how our system was designed to work. You just don't like them because they are a threat to your party.

What is extreme about demanding the US government abide by the US Constitution, live with its means, and stop running up the national debt?

Of course the left sees nothing extreme in their agenda of punishing achievement, openly call for the IRS to continue targeting people who openly disagreement with the government, sue a group of Nuns for not obeying Obamacare, and ignore the NSA increased snooping of the citizens

He also promised people could keep their insurance. What happened to that?

Well he can't actually keep his promises and improve his golf score simultaneously. Something had to give, and so Barack Obama learned to prioritize as president. On the plus side of the ledger though, since becoming president he's gotten a HUGE amount of golf practice under his belt and has significantly changed his handicap rating. Success!

Correct, there was a small grass roots political organization targeting spending, which is quite understandable. But their cause was hijacked by extremists, social and political, and those original members are still guilty of allowing them to attach to their cause.

The Tea Party is rife with extremists, that are completely off base, most especially with their ridiculous claims of, gun confiscation, birth certificate, concentration camps, UN take over and the like. We have been listening to these yahoos and it is clear their BS is getting long in the tooth.

The Tea Party will never be a national force, they are far too parochial with their extreme ideology, yet they are even more disillusioned thinking the majority of others are like them.

you honestly are dillusional if you think the current Tea Parties care about fiscal responsibility.
what they hate is America's move towards liberal social policies on abortion and gay rights.
oh, having a black president who's father was of Muslim heritage is also not on their happy-list.
i could see actually valuing the Tea Party if they kept the message about fiscal responsibility.
but time after time at the rallies there are coded race words and signs and hatred spewed at Obama that go beyond political but cultural and racial.

Exactly. Remember all those threads telling us the Tea Party is dead? Looks like that was just wishful thinking, huh? ;)

That issue seems to have been put on the back burner.

Here are their 15 "non-negotiable" beliefs.

    1. Illegal aliens are here illegally.
    2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable.
    3. A strong military is essential.
    4. Special interests must be eliminated.
    5. Gun ownership is sacred.
    6. Government must be downsized.
    7. The national budget must be balanced.
    8. Deficit spending must end.
    9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal.
    10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must.
    11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory.
    12. Political offices must be available to average citizens.
    13. Intrusive government must be stopped.
    14. English as our core language is required.
    15. Traditional family values are encouraged.

Basically, they've become more extremist and now their policies are non-negotiable.

This begs the question: what's the difference between the Tea Party and what is described above?

The left gives them the fuel for their beliefs do they not?
Didn't the mayor of Chicago say he wants all guns removed from Americans? Didn't minority leader say if she had the votes that she would tell Americans to turn in all their guns?
Did Obama not pass the NDAA and insist it covers all Americans?
Did the NSA lie about the extent of their spying?
Did the IRS not apologize for targeting the tea party?
Did clapper not lie to congress and nothing happened to him
Were their not confiscated guns in Katerina that still to this day never been returned? The police doesn't know what happen to them. Just missing from their stations.
Did they not kick in doors in Boston after the bombing without a warrant?
Did the DHS lie about their ammo purchases more than once? The first was that it wasn't true. Than that millions of hollow points were for target practice and to save us money. Sorry hollow points aren't for target practice.
Is the police state not increasing daily?
The list goes on. The government is causing this increase in their believes by doing what they are exactly saying.

You are injecting your own views into a whole movement of people. Every group has wackos. Including the left.

Again the left tries to avoid the question by using the race card.

Yes, it is! You can thank the low information voters for this. As those of us who were informed and vetted Obama ourselves knew what he was.

Just like the Democrats suffered for being too liberal. I, as a liberal, am the most dissatisfied with the Democrats in Washington but I am not foolish enough to think that the country would accept my entire liberalism.

Their poll numbers would go up among Independents and Democrats. They would only go down in that extreme minority on the right - and where will that minority go? Even Republican businesses want immigration reform. Businesses do not like to compete with other businesses using illegal workers. They want illegals to be tracked and businesses using illegal practices punished.

Sorry, you do not understand the extreme right use of "liberty". They mean the freedom to screw anyone who gets in their way.

Wrong. The Democrats did not vote to go to war. Bush used the upcoming election to put pressure on Democrats to vote to give him authority to go to war with Iraq IF he thought it was necessary.

The fall elections in 2002 were not looking good for Republicans in August. The Bush then began whipping up propaganda on the Iraq terror. Democrats became fearful that, if they voted against giving authority to Bush, they would lose their seats in the upcoming elections.

It was a great propaganda political move by Bush/Cheney. Getting the war that they wanted and saving Republicans in the election.

That is not a conspiracy theory. It is based on the facts at the time.

I didn't see anything in Pardy's post about raising the debt to infinity. You always seem to need exaggeration to make any of your points.

There is nothing wrong with reducing the deficit or even having some surplus years. The extreme right thinks that cutting spending is the only way to do. They also push the lie that the Debt can be paid off.

The left will work with you to reduce the deficit but revenue has to be included. For over 30 years, we stopped paying for what we spent and the rich got richer. The rich saved a lot more money with any of the tax cuts than the rest of Americans. You cannot expect that the middle/lower incomes should suffer more to balance your budgets.

Yes, the rich should pay more to reduce the deficit because they benefited more while the deficit/debt was growing.

Have you any idea how many Americans are left of you. You guys are trying to make the GOP as irrelevant as the Libertarian Party.

Republicans and Democrats are both leaving their parties in droves and becoming independents because of the constant partisan bickering. Republicans are feeling it the worst right now, thanks primarily to the tea party wing nuts that have taken over. We really need proportional representation in congress and instant run-off voting. This two-part duopoly is killing us and preventing any progress.

I left the Dem party myself in 1998 after just six years in disgust during the Clinton reign.

I was asking him a question nowhere did I say he said that.
It sure doesn't seem the left is willing to cut the budget. Obama's sequester proved differently.
